    Director/ Coordinator - (1327)

    Job Requirements

    Director Profile:

    • Must have a PhD degree in a science-related degree with a preference in either Physics, Chemistry, Mathematical and Computational Sciences and/or Biological Sciences
    • Have good knowledge and experience in science communication.
    • Have five years’ experience in a management position together with three years’ experience in science center environments or science communication OR Have five years of engagement in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) and learners support at the tertiary level.  

    Director Duties:

    • Develop and implement the Science Center business strategy, annual operation plan, and budgeting exercise in line with the University of Venda policies – working closely with the Executive Dean of the Faculty of Science, Engineering, and Agriculture to ensure it fits into the operational and strategic plan of the Faculty and the university.
    • Coordinate, monitor, and drive the strategy implementation for the learners in STEM-related subjects.
    • Be active in fundraising and coordinating collaboration with different stakeholders
    • Management of financial, compliance, and statutory requirements, including Occupational Health and Safety (OHS)
    • Management of support services within the center and the relevant service providers.
    • Development of program feedback and evaluation measures for future review and assessment of the Vuwani Science Resource Centre - this includes helping with the implementation thereof.
    • Drafting of contracts and policies, including procedures and manuals for the efficient operation of the centre and its implementation thereof
    • Development (where necessary) and implementation of operational systems to support smooth Vuwani Science Resource Centre operations.
    • Regular on-site school support visits for schools and teachers in the subject, which will include team teaching and demonstration lessons
    • Make sure regular reports as per Faculty and Univen requirements are prepared for the Executive Dean’s approval before the reports are submitted outside the faculty.

    Lecturer - (1267)

    REQUIREMEMNTS

    • Master’s degree in nursing
    • Nursing Education
    • Advanced midwifery.
    • Registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Nurse Educator is compulsory.
    • Registration with SANC as an Advanced Midwife or Accoucheur
    • Clinical midwifery practice experience.
    • Three (3) years of Midwifery teaching experience in an institution of higher learning/ Five years of work experience in the Maternity ward.

    DUTIES

    • The successful candidate will accept responsibility for teaching Midwifery Nursing theory and practice to undergraduate students.
    • To accompany of students in midwifery clinical practice.
    • To assess and control of students’ midwifery registers book.
    • Co-supervision of undergraduate research projects

    Service Staff (P17) Farming - (1321)

    REQUIREMENTS

    • Candidates should be in possession of Grade 12/National Certificate in Agriculture and one(1) year of relevant experience working in the Agricultural Environment as well as training in animals and crop production; good communication skills, Computer literacy, Ability to operate agricultural machines, equipment, and or tractor, valid driver's license code 10 plus PDP.

    DUTIES

    • Responsible for Farm animals and field crops.
    • Assist in all research/ practicums.
    • Record keeping.
    • Driving farm vehicles, and tractor.
    • Be available for standby.
    • Be available for duty during weekends, public and university holiday other activities as outlined by Farm manager.

    Head: Legal Aid Clinic - (1326)

    Requirements:

    • LLM Degree with at least ten years of legal practice experience.
    • The applicant must be computer literate and have excellent communication skills and be admitted as an Attorney, with the Right of appearance in the High Court, registered with the Legal Practice Council (LPC), and with a letter of good standing from the LPC.
    • Applications must be accompanied by copies of proof of admission, right of appearance in the High Court and letter of good standing from the LPC.

    Duties:

    • Strategically manage the activities of the Law Clinic.
    • Report to the School of Law, Faculty Board and LPC on behalf of the Law Clinic.
    • Manage the budget of the Law Clinic and related cost centres.
    • Manage and supervise junior staff members attached to the Law Clinic.
    • Register and train candidate attorneys attached to the Law Clinic.
    • Approve and allocate files.
    • Teach Clinical the Legal Education module to final year law students.
    • Manage practical training of senior Law Students.
    • Coordinate community engagement projects run by the Law Clinic.
    • Manage relations with courts and other stakeholders in the justice cluster.
    • Represent indigent Law Clinic clients in legal matters.
    • Initiate projects and identify potential community cases that the Law Clinic can defend on behalf of communities.
    • Mobilise donor funds and initiate other activities to earn the Law Clinic operational income
