Director of Engineering at Peach Payments

We are going to be growing our team to support these initiatives along with a number of future products that will support and enhance value adds to this market.

With rapid growth comes its own set of challenges - many of these challenges arriving from rapid growth within the team/company - equipping the team with the right experienced people to understand the changes coming and guide the team through these challenges is going to be pivotal to our success.

What Would You Be Responsible For

• An engineering portfolio: Our engineering team comprises a number of Product Engineering teams and Engineering support teams. You will be responsible for the performance of a number of these teams that make up your portfolio.
• Directly managing a number of engineering managers, this includes having regular 1:1’s, mentoring and coaching, setting up training.
• Overseeing recruitment initiatives alongside your engineering managers within your portfolio, ensuring that the teams are well staffed.
• Managing the budget and operational costs associated with the systems within your teams portfolio
• Setting up goals and KPIs for the teams in your portfolio - ensuring feedback regarding progress here is given frequently.
• Improving process and standards ensure best practices are implemented so that we minimise the amount of rework will be needed with regulation and compliance audits.
• Setup roadmaps with our engineering support teams(DevSecOps, Data, QA, Design).
• Work with and set up new development partners to assist us in getting big strategic projects over the line.
• Manage our toolset - monitoring, alerting, security scans, static analysis, version control.
• Increasing the tenure of our Software Engineers through initiatives that provide them with career development and advancement opportunities, ensuring engineers are compensated adequately, setting up sustainable work expectations ensuring we have a safe work environment that fosters diversity and inclusion.

Skills That Make You Qualified For The Role

• 12 years total software engineering experience with at least
• 5 years at a leadership level, which also includes people management
• Has worked with cloud based software systems, working specifically with AWS being advantageous
• Has had experience with system design and system wide architecture advantageous
• Strong ability to build relationships with colleagues and external parties
• Ability to direct work flows and effectively manage conflict if it arises
• Able to affect a teams performance in
• Self starter who can manage their own time and communicate when they need assistance
• Business Degree or equivalent post graduate diploma, advantageous
• Working knowledge of the payments or e-commerce industry advantageous
