Driver: Skip Truck at Saldanha Municipality

Minimum Requirements:

• Grade 9  1-2 years truck driving relevant experience  Waste Transportation will be an added advantage  Valid Code C driver’s license with PRDP  Good communication skills in two of the three official languages of the Western Cape

Duties will entail:

• Responsible for the supervision of skip truck operator  Responsible for removal of waste from a designated industrial/business/ residential area within SBM jurisdiction  Dumping of waste on municipality’s landfill sites Administration function with respect to industrial waste removal  Reporting of illegal waste activities by members of the community.

Competencies:

• Shows a satisfactory level of technical expertise to perform tasks and activities associated with general maintenance and operating landfill compactor, loader, fronted loader  Performs basic maintenance on mechanical plant and in accordance with laid down instructions  Demonstrates discipline specific skills and knowledge of tools and equipment in an assigned area of work  Take responsibility for own tools and equipment  Function with minimum supervision  Displays the ability to plan for safer, shorter routes without compromising compliances with traffic laws  Shows a commitment to excellence and quality  Engages effectively with the general public and clients  Understands and articulate client needs  Acknowledge merits in other arguments  Negotiates skilfully in tough situations  Communicates effectively both verbally and written  Can compile routine correspondence / documents and keeps relevant record Use appropriate style and format to communicate to internal and external clients  Pushes self and motivates other results  Understands own strengths and weaknesses and acts to close knowledge / skills gap  Fosters teamwork and collaboration  Has credibility with staff  Direction setting  Coaching and mentoring.
