The incumbent will translate the mandate of the Digital Development group into an industrial engineering mandate and manage the performance of the team. This will include guiding and directing the industrial engineering team to identify improvement opportunities via system analysis, as well as developing and implementing lean, practical and focussed business solutions. The team should also strive to appropriately use digitalisation tools (automation, data science, statistics), thereby supporting the digital transformation of Operations.
Key Accountabilities
Translate Digital Development group’s mandate into an Industrial engineering mandate
Manage the performance of the industrial engineering team and be accountable for the quality of team’s deliverables
Guide and direct the industrial engineering team to identify improvement opportunities with business value
Lead and coordinate delivery of intelligence and services in line with industrial engineering
Evaluate and interpret industrial engineers’ analysis and proposed business solutions and approve release to business
Considers impact on Sasol as a whole when suggesting improvements (integration and systems thinking)
Business family leader for industrial engineering in ROAS, which includes ensuring effective development of candidate engineers
Support the digitalisation transformation of Secunda Operations by using digitalisation tools (such as automation, data science and statistics) where appropriate
Ensure that the general industrial engineering skill set, and particularly the digitalisation capabilities, of the team is continuously developed and expanded
Review Sasol policies and specifications for applicability and implementation within area of responsibility
Take responsibility to drive initiatives which improves delivery and competitiveness Drive high performance culture and innovative thinking
Develop technical and industrial engineering skills for own team through coaching
Facilitate knowledge sharing and innovation
Ensure personal development plans are completed, implemented and tracked within applicable career path
Be responsible for own performance management system

Translate and cascade goals and long-term plans through effective two-way communication in the organisation
