We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Engineering / Machinist Quality Controller to join a manufacturing and engineering team based in Germiston. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that machined components and engineering products meet company quality standards, customer specifications, and industry regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct quality inspections on machined and manufactured components.
Read and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and tolerance requirements.
Perform dimensional inspections using precision measuring instruments such as:
Vernier calipers
Micrometers
Bore gauges
Height gauges
Dial indicators
Ensure compliance with ISO standards and company quality procedures.
Identify non-conforming products and implement corrective actions.
Compile inspection reports and maintain accurate quality records.
Work closely with machinists, engineers, and production staff to improve product quality.
Monitor production processes to ensure consistency and adherence to specifications.
Conduct first-off, in-process, and final inspections.
Assist with internal and external audits when required.
Ensure health and safety procedures are followed at all times.
Minimum Requirements
Grade 12 / Matric certificate.
Relevant qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Quality Control, or related field advantageous.
Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in a machining or engineering quality control environment.
Strong understanding of machining processes and engineering tolerances.
Experience working in a manufacturing or precision engineering environment.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings accurately.
Computer literacy and experience with quality documentation.
Knowledge of ISO 9001 quality systems advantageous.
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
Good communication and teamwork abilities.
Preferred Skills
Experience with CNC machining environments.
Understanding of welding inspections and fabrication quality standards.
Root cause analysis and corrective action implementation.
Knowledge of quality assurance procedures and inspection techniques.
