    Engineering Manager

    Description

    We are the world’s leading Cinema software supplier, and we are looking for a Development Manager/Engineering Manager to join our growing Digital team! Our headquarters are based in New Zealand with offices in London, Amsterdam, Los Angeles, Beijing, Shanghai, Mexico City, Kuala Lumpur and Cape Town. You will get the opportunity to work on award-winning projects leading a team of back-end, front-end and full stack developers in building best-in-class cinema websites worldwide. Our portfolio includes clients of various sizes, ranging from some of the largest cinema chains to renown arthouse cinema brands worldwide.

    As an Engineering Manager, you’ll be a trustworthy and proactive team leader with many years of engineering experience. You’ll be capable of problem solving, working on several projects at the same time, while growing and managing diverse teams of engineers from different disciplines across London, Romania and South Africa. You’ll be managing releases, deployments, a team of engineers and a QA. You’ll also be formulating and executing new team and technical processes and strategies while coordinating with members of Senior management. You’ll have experience with modern software development practices and be able to bring your own skills and perspectives to the table via whiteboarding sessions, peer programming and code reviews. You are someone who takes ownership, can time-manage and laughs at the sight of a challenge. Projects involve an understanding of the cinema industry, so while experience in industry is nice, don’t worry because you’ll be provided with excellent training and onboarding to get you up to speed as soon as possible.

    Qualifications and experience:

    • SA citizen or holds the right to work in South Africa

    • At least a degree qualification in Engineering Management, Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering or similar

    • 5+ years’ experience in the software industry

    • Experience working in a modern software development environment

     

     

    Skills, Knowledge, Abilities and Personal Attributes:

    • Proven Team Leader

    • Ability to successfully manage multiple projects and teams at a time and meet deadlines

    • Hiring and building teams

    • ReactJS knowledge, strong C# / ASP.Net MVC and SQL knowledge and application of modern development principles and methodology. AngularJS/Angular knowledge is a plus

    • Strong focus on software quality with Load Testing, Unit Testing, thorough code reviews, automated integration testing

    • A keen eye for UI and UX design and a good understanding of the UX process

    • Confidence in understanding and interpreting technical documents from various technology integrators

    • A logical thinker with strong analytical problem-solving skills and an attention to detail

    • A helpful and positive personality with excellent interpersonal skills

    • Ability to develop and maintain good professional working relationships with people at all levels across the company

    • Good understanding of SEO principles and ensuring that applications will adhere to them.
