    Engineering Supervisor LV Electrical

    Job Description:

    As Engineering Supervisor LV you will provide services as required and your responsibilities will include but not limited to: 

    • Safety, Health, and Environment 
    • Prioritize safety and health in all team interactions and lead by example to achieve zero harm and prevent fatalities.
    • Identify and address risks in the workplace using discipline-specific plans and operational risk management systems.
    • Establish and maintain Safety and Health systems within the work area.
    • Active participation in SLAMs, HPHs, relevant Risk Assessments and close-out of Safety Actions. 
    • Performance Delivery 
    • Contribute to performance review reports on electrical systems on a daily/weekly basis, ensuring compliance with data quality standards.
    • Participate in and execute basic Root Cause Analyses (RCAs) to identify non-compliance with electrical performance targets (particularly equipment failures) and deliver actionable solutions.
    • Provide accurate inputs to the forecasting process for electrical maintenance and present area-related targets to the team.
    • Collaborate in reviewing and developing Service Strategies for electrical systems, monitoring measures to ensure effective delivery.
    • Maintenance Planning 
    • Ensure a comprehensive maintenance plan exists for all electrical equipment, complying with prescribed maintenance policies and standards.
    • Adhere to all requirements set forth by AAOM and E&M best practice guidelines related to electrical maintenance planning.
    • Maintenance Scheduling 
    • Implement and manage maintenance schedules for electrical systems, keeping in mind production targets, to minimise disruptions.
    • Ensure preventative maintenance on electrical equipment is completed on schedule, minimising failures and maintaining availability within targets.
    • Follow all work requirements specified by AAOM and E&M best practice guidelines regarding electrical maintenance scheduling.
    • Maintenance Execution 
    • Adhere to all execution requirements established by AAOM and E&M best practices, ensuring compliance with electrical standards and procedures.
    • Participate in at least four planned weekly task observations for in-field quality assurance verification of electrical work.
    • Oversee the maintenance and repair of electrical equipment, ensuring maximum availability and consistent quality standards.
    • Identify opportunities for improvement in electrical systems, implement solutions, and maintain performance standards for ongoing enhancement.
    • Offer advice to prevent potential electrical issues and address components that cause excessive downtime with sustainable solutions.
    • Maintain comprehensive records of completed electrical maintenance activities and trends.
    • Ensure authorised personnel adhere to safety and procedural protocols during electrical maintenance.
    • Provide technical knowledge and support to team members for daily electrical problem-solving and skill enhancement.
    • Contribute insights on electrical equipment and components for strategic planning and improvement initiatives.
    • Work with Maintenance and Supply Chain to define service level agreement (SLA) requirements for electrical work.
    • Follow Asset Management policies and system requirements to effectively manage and optimise electrical assets. 
    • Utilise provided systems to monitor and manage costs related to electrical maintenance efficiently. 
    • Asset Integrity: Implement inspection strategies and coordinate activities related to the integrity of electrical systems, ensuring compliance with established standards.
    • Engineering & Maintenance Measures and Control 
    • Execute daily data validation and reconciliation for electrical maintenance, ensuring timely work order closures and accurate data reporting.
    • Participate in Continuous Improvement initiatives and engage in RCAs to manage defect elimination in electrical systems.
    • Tools, Facilities, Workshops 
    • Conduct regular housekeeping and workplace inspections of electrical tools and facilities to ensure maintenance is performed as planned and meets standards.
    • Contractor Management 
    • Comply with contractor management standards and monitor contractor performance on electrical work against defined KPIs.
    • Sustainability and Social:
    • Execute the delivery of the sustainability activities relevant to the discipline and set out in the Life of Asset Plan to improve sustainability performance over time.
    • Contribute to developing a Sustainable Mining Plan execution relevant to the discipline.
    • Comply with environmental and social requirements as relevant to the discipline.
    • Utilise environmental and social risk mitigation techniques relevant to the discipline specified in the asset risk management approach.
    • People and Teams: 
    • Lead by example and support a purpose-driven, high-performance culture based on company values, inclusion, and diversity principles.
    • Foster team member development through coaching while maintaining the right skills mix within the team through developing and executing Individual Development Plans (IDPs) for all team members.

    This role is in the Engineering & Maintenance (ENG) at a Band 7 level reporting to the General Engineering Supervisor.

    Qualifications:

    • Grade 12/ N3 Technical
    • Relevant Engineering Qualification on NQF5
    • Occupational Red Seal Certificate in an Electrical discipline
    • LV/MV Switching Certificate
    • SA Drivers Licence Code B

    Experience

    • 5 years of relevant experience in an operational electrical engineering mining environment.
    • Knowledge of electrical and low voltage engineering and maintenance processes within the scope of the role.
    • Relevant operational drawing/design experience (mining industry preferred).
    • Budget management and cost control.
    • Documentation, sign-off and approval processes.
    • Risk management techniques and critical controls.
    • Leadership tools for implementing a culture of purpose-led, highperformance and change.
    • Safety, health, and environment, legislative, statutory, and regulatory.
