    Environmental Education & Awareness Youth Graduate

    Minimum Requirements:

    • M + 3 (Matric plus 3 years of study) (Qualification with 360 credits or Diploma NQF 6) in the following fields of study: Environmental Management, Environmental Sciences, Nature Conservation or closely related disciplines at NQF level 6 or 7
    • Youth between 18 – 35 years of age, people with disability are encouraged to apply
    • Required documents: Application letter, Curriculum vitae, copy qualifications
    • South African Citizens residing in the City of Johannesburg.

    Primary Function:

    • Provide support to the Senior Specialist: Awareness and Community-Based Planning, in implementing policies, systems, strategies, standards and management plans for the promotion of integrated environmental awareness across CoJ, while promoting environmental development..

    Key Activities:

    • Support the implementation of the Department's Environmental Education and Awareness Strategy aligned with departmental priorities.
    • Assist in the planning and implementation of environmental education, awareness and behaviour change programmes, campaigns and commemorative environmental theme days targeting schools, communities and other targeted stakeholder groups.
    • Assist in the development, review and dissemination of environmental education materials, awareness publications, digital content and other communication resources.
    • Prepare reports on environmental awareness activities, stakeholder participation, programme outputs and key outcomes in line with departmental reporting protocols.
    • Provide administrative and logistical support for environmental awareness projects, including event planning, procurement processes, record management and stakeholder coordination.
    • Support partnership-building initiatives with schools, community organisations, government departments, NGOs and private sector stakeholders to strengthen environmental education and awareness programmes.
    • Assist with monitoring and evaluating environmental awareness programmes by collecting
    • participation data, maintaining project records and contributing to lessons learnt and continuous improvement.

    Leading Competencies:

    • Computer literacy including MS Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
    • Good communication and presentation skills.
    • Project management skills.
    • Coordinating skills.
    • Report writing.
    • Good time management skills.

    Core Competencies:

    • Knowledge and understanding of environmental issues and relevant legislation;
