    Environmental Internship (Tygerberg Quarry)

    Minimum Qualification / Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree/National diploma in Environmental Sciences, Environmental Management or related degree.
    • Knowledge and understanding of NEMA; MPRDA; NWA; NEMWA; NEMBA and EIA process.
    • Reside in the Western Cape
    • Strong report writing skills.
    • Able to work in a team.
    • Strong communication skills
    • Ability to work under pressure.
    • Ability to establish and maintain good client relationships.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships.
    • Detail orientated
    • Be proficient in Microsoft Office
    • Be willing to learn.
    • Be self-motivated and take initiative
    • RSA valid Driver’s License
    • Be able to work unsupervised at times
    • Be medically fit in terms of the Mine Health and Safety Act
    • Ability to interpret data from site inspections; scientific specialist reports and environmental audits.

    Duties and responsibilities (not limited to):

    • Promote sustainability and environmental awareness within Southern Cluster operations.
    • Assist environmental division in ensuring compliance with Environmental Legislation
    • Assist with audits and environmental audit reporting.
    • Conduct inspections with internal and external stakeholders.
    • Assist with preparation of Environmental Management Plan
    • Assist with Environmental Impact Assessment and report writing for compliance.

    Gain practical exposure by supporting and observing the following project components:

    • Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs) in line with relevant legislation
    • Environmental authorisation and mining application processes.
    • Stakeholder engagement and public consultation processes.
    • Liaison with clients and authorities
    • Assist with compiling, formatting, and reviewing reports for submission to clients and regulatory bodies
    • Participate in fieldwork assignments, including work in remote or physically demanding environments, under supervision.
    • Perform general administrative tasks to support the environmental team and contribute to the smooth running of projects.
    • Compliance monitoring matte
