    Environmental Officer: Production Grade A (Climate change) – 2 posts

    Salary range: R343 842 – R380 145 per annum (OSD)

    • Appropriate salary will be determined according to the regulatory framework (based on OSD).
    • Centre: Bhisho
    • Reference: DEDEAT/2025/10/16
    • Employment equity target: White Male / African Male / Persons with Disabilities (PwD)

    Requirements:

    • National Senior Certificate plus a relevant National Diploma (NQF Level 6) or equivalent qualification in Natural Sciences, Environmental Management, Nature Conservation, Environmental Law, Climate Change, or Renewable Energy Studies.
    • No experience required as per OSD provisions; however, 1–2 years of relevant experience in climate change or a related field will be an added advantage.
    • A valid driver’s licence is required.

    Knowledge, skills, and attributes:

    • Sound knowledge of environmental legislation, including:
    • National Environmental Management Act (NEMA)
    • Climate Change Act
    • National Environmental Management: Biodiversity Act (NEMBA)
    • Environmental Impact Assessment Regulations
    • Understanding of public sector frameworks, including:
    • Public Service Act
    • Public Service Regulations
    • Public Finance Management Act (PFMA)
    • Strong communication, coordination, and reporting skills.
    • Good writing ability and computer literacy.

    Duties:

    • Provide technical support for the coordination of integrated climate change management planning and development practices.
    • Assist with the development and maintenance of climate change management policies, legislation, and regulations.
    • Support the implementation of climate change management-related policies and regulations, and monitor, evaluate, and report on their impact.
    • Contribute to the development and maintenance of an integrated climate change information management system.
    • Perform and manage administrative and related functions as required.
