    Environmental Officer: Specialised Production (Biodiversity)

    Environmental officer: Specialised production (Biodiversity)

    • Salary range: R498 816 – R690 237 per annum (OSD)
    • Appropriate salary will be determined according to the regulatory framework (based on OSD).
    • Centre: Chris Hani Region
    • Reference: DEDEAT/2025/10/11
    • Employment equity target: Coloured Male

    Requirements:

    • National Senior Certificate plus a relevant Honours Degree (NQF Level 8) in Environmental Management, Natural Sciences, or a related qualification.
    • Experience: As per OSD requirements; however, 1–2 years of relevant experience will be an added advantage.
    • A valid driver’s licence is required.
    • Knowledge, skills, and attributes:
    • Sound knowledge of the National Environmental Management Act (NEMA).
    • Familiarity with the Public Service Act, Public Service Regulations, and National Environmental Management: Biodiversity Act (NEMBA).
    • Computer literacy and good administrative skills.
    • Good writing and communication skills.

    Duties:

    • Provide specialised technical support and input in the development, maintenance, and implementation of the district’s biodiversity management plan.
    • Offer specialised technical advisory services to ensure institutional and developmental compliance with coastal management legislation.
    • Evaluate complex biodiversity and coastal zone authorisation applications and supervise compliance adjudication processes.
    • Provide specialised biodiversity and coastal zone advisory services within the area of operation.
    • Perform and manage administrative and related functions as required.
