EPC Commercial Quantity Surveyor – Renewable Energy at AltGen South Africa

• We are looking to recruit an EPC Commercial Quantity Surveyor to play a key role in the evaluation and negotiation of EPC and BoP contract packages.
• This is not a traditional procurement or cost engineering role. The focus is on interrogating EPC and BoP pricing, challenging contractor methodologies and identifying opportunities to reduce underlying project costs through better execution approaches, procurement decisions and contractor strategies.
• The role will involve working closely with EPC contractors, suppliers and engineering teams throughout tendering and commercial negotiations.

Key Responsibilities

• Evaluate EPC and BoP pricing submissions during tender and procurement phases
• Review contractor pricing build-ups, execution methodologies and procurement assumptions to identify cost and delivery optimisation opportunities
• Challenge contractor methodologies, pricing assumptions and delivery strategies during tender evaluations
• Participate in commercial negotiations with contractors and suppliers
• Support tendering, procurement and contract administration activities across major EPC packages
• Support the negotiation and administration of EPC and infrastructure contracts
• Work closely with engineering and project teams on commercial and contractual matters

Candidate Profile

• Degree or diploma in Quantity Surveying, Engineering, Construction Management or a related field
• 6+ years’ experience within renewable energy EPC or infrastructure projects
• Experience reviewing EPC or contractor tender submissions
• Backgrounds may include EPC commercial, Quantity Surveying (QS), tendering, estimating, contracts engineering or project controls
• Experience with FIDIC or NEC contracts and international procurement standards
