• AltGen is looking for a skilled Accountant to join a renewable energy company based in Stellenbosch for a 6-month contract. The role will take full accounting function of the Operations and Maintenance section of the Group and support and assist the Finance Team on the remaining companies in the Group as needed. The role will entail that you get a clear understanding of the accounting on the Investments, Operations and Maintenance side of the business.

Responsibilities
Business section: Operations and Maintenance

• Invoicing of all Operations and Maintenance fees (internal, external and OTC’s).
• Monthly recons, e.g. to check if the cost of sales incurred was invoiced out.
• Monitoring of contract increase and expiry dates to ensure effectiveness and timely application and renewal.
• Managing SIM card function for O&M assets.
• Calculate and prepare VAT return.
• Assist with the annual Budget for the company.

Business section: Investments Group

• Debtors follow-up, checks and analysis.
• Review VAT calculations and returns before submission.
• Pull the weekly payment files.
• Review and approve monthly rooftop invoices and update reconciliation.
• Liaise with PKF on VAT audits, submit information and follow up on progress.
• Liaise with Investec for new credit cards or any changes to current cards.
• Opening of bank accounts and maintenance of accounts.
• Prepare annual audit files and respond to auditors’ queries.
• Assist with checking of monthly Livewires before invoicing is done.
• Assist Team with questions on recons, loans, journals, invoicing and VAT.
• Review and approve weekly payments.
• Income Tax, VAT and EMP registrations for new companies and administration on current profiles.
• Assist with annual income tax returns completion and submission.
• Assist with the review of the annual Financial Statements.

Adhoc

• Assist the Investments Finance Team with ad hoc tasks as needed.
• Assist the CFO with ad hoc tasks.
• Assist the Financial Manager with ad hoc tasks.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Commerce Accounting
• AGA or CA membership with SAICA
• 3-5 years’ relevant accounting experience
• Proficient in MS Excel and comfortable with financial systems
• Willing to take on a 6-month contract

• This role focuses on originating, developing, structuring, and executing energy and infrastructure projects, with a strong emphasis on renewable and energy transition assets. The successful candidate will lead or support projects across the full lifecycle, from early-stage development through to financial close.

Key Responsibilities

• Identify and assess new project opportunities (greenfield, acquisitions, partnerships)
• Lead or support project development activities from origination through to financial close
• Coordinate internal and external stakeholders across technical, legal, financial, and environmental workstreams
• Manage due diligence processes and oversee external advisors
• Lead participation in competitive bidding processes and submissions

Skills & Competencies

• Minimum of 7–10 years’ experience in infrastructure, energy, or project finance environments
• Exposure to renewable energy or energy transition projects (e.g. solar, wind, storage, hybrid systems)
• Experience in project development, investment, or transaction advisory
• Degree in Engineering, Finance, Economics, or a related field
• Postgraduate qualification (e.g. MSc, MBA) is advantageous
• Strong project development and transaction execution capability
• Advanced financial modelling and analytical skills
• Experience in structuring and negotiating complex commercial agreements

• AltGen is looking for a diligent Junior Accountant to join a renewable energy company based in Cape Town on a 12-month contract. The role will support the team in day-to-day tasks and contribute to projects that drive business performance. The role requires someone who can start immediately.

Responsibilities:

• Assist in obtaining documentation for daily operations, audit, cross-border transactions, tax and related requests.
• Support month-end and year-end closing activities.
• Prepare financial data, ensuring accuracy and compliance with internal policies and internal controls
• Aid with supplier invoice processing from receiving to processing, payments and supplier reconciliations
• Assist with daily postings in the accounting system and various ad-hoc requests from the senior accountant and the finance director
• Contribute to ad-hoc financial projects and process improvements.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to obtain necessary approvals and strengthen the company’s internal processes.

Requirements:

• Diploma/ Bachelor’s qualification in Finance or Accounting
• 1-2 years of experience in a finance environment

• We are looking to recruit an EPC Commercial Quantity Surveyor to play a key role in the evaluation and negotiation of EPC and BoP contract packages.
• This is not a traditional procurement or cost engineering role. The focus is on interrogating EPC and BoP pricing, challenging contractor methodologies and identifying opportunities to reduce underlying project costs through better execution approaches, procurement decisions and contractor strategies.
• The role will involve working closely with EPC contractors, suppliers and engineering teams throughout tendering and commercial negotiations.

Key Responsibilities

• Evaluate EPC and BoP pricing submissions during tender and procurement phases
• Review contractor pricing build-ups, execution methodologies and procurement assumptions to identify cost and delivery optimisation opportunities
• Challenge contractor methodologies, pricing assumptions and delivery strategies during tender evaluations
• Participate in commercial negotiations with contractors and suppliers
• Support tendering, procurement and contract administration activities across major EPC packages
• Support the negotiation and administration of EPC and infrastructure contracts
• Work closely with engineering and project teams on commercial and contractual matters

Candidate Profile

• Degree or diploma in Quantity Surveying, Engineering, Construction Management or a related field
• 6+ years’ experience within renewable energy EPC or infrastructure projects
• Experience reviewing EPC or contractor tender submissions
• Backgrounds may include EPC commercial, Quantity Surveying (QS), tendering, estimating, contracts engineering or project controls
• Experience with FIDIC or NEC contracts and international procurement standards
