A leading renewable energy company is seeking a seasoned and results-driven Investment Manager to join its team, with the role based in either Johannesburg or Cape Town.
This role focuses on originating, developing, structuring, and executing energy and infrastructure projects, with a strong emphasis on renewable and energy transition assets. The successful candidate will lead or support projects across the full lifecycle, from early-stage development through to financial close.
Key Responsibilities
Identify and assess new project opportunities (greenfield, acquisitions, partnerships)
Lead or support project development activities from origination through to financial close
Coordinate internal and external stakeholders across technical, legal, financial, and environmental workstreams
Manage due diligence processes and oversee external advisors
Lead participation in competitive bidding processes and submissions
Support project structuring, including commercial and financial optimisation
Contribute to negotiation of key agreements (e.g. offtake, construction, partnerships, financing)
Oversee project timelines, budgets, and milestone delivery
Develop and maintain financial models and perform scenario/sensitivity analysis
Prepare internal investment documentation and present to decision-making committees
Conduct market research and provide strategic insights on sector trends and opportunities
Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders across the value chain
Skills & Competencies
Minimum of 7–10 years’ experience in infrastructure, energy, or project finance environments
Exposure to renewable energy or energy transition projects (e.g. solar, wind, storage, hybrid systems)
Experience in project development, investment, or transaction advisory
Degree in Engineering, Finance, Economics, or a related field
Postgraduate qualification (e.g. MSc, MBA) is advantageous
Strong project development and transaction execution capability
Advanced financial modelling and analytical skills
Experience in structuring and negotiating complex commercial agreements
