    Executive Head: Legal Affairs TowerCo

    Role Purpose
    Responsible for delivering of sound legal advice and support on strategic legal matters for the TowerCo, ensuring sound support on commercial matters, negotiations and drafting of sound agreements.

    Your Responsibilities Will Include

    • Day-to-day responsibility for providing accurate, effective and timely legal advice, analysis and support at an expert level on complex commercial and contractual matters of significant strategic and/or financial value to Vodacom relating to the Towerco.
    • Keep business stakeholders updated and briefed on key projects and risk management
    • Review, play a lead role in negotiating and drafting related legal agreements.
    • Attend to all related contract legal issues.
    • Ensure at all legal matters are reported and managed in accordance with company governance requirements and processes, delegation of authority, and Group Code of Conduct
    • Actively participate in the broader Vodafone and Vodacom legal community to bring benefit from experience, expertise and synergies to Vodacom
    • Keep ME Legal Affairs and CO Legal and Regulatory informed /involved on major or complex issues.

    The Ideal Candidate For This Role Will Have
    Must have technical/professional qualifications and experience:

    • LLB Degree and admitted attorney with a minimum of 8 – 10 years post qualification experience.
    • Technical knowledge in financial services
    • Fluency in English is mandatory.
    • Experience in engaging with regulatory authorities.
    • Extensive commercial law, drafting and negotiation experience, with ability to provide innovative legal solutions in a fast moving industry.

    Core Competencies, Knowledge And Experience

    • Experienced commercial law attorney with some knowledge of the telecoms industry or related experience.
    • Understanding of the financial services sector (any of, banking, insurance, credit arrangements, payments systems)
    • Understanding of legal arrangements in franchising
    • Capable of negotiating complex transactions and providing legal advice of these transactions to senior business stakeholders.
    • Highly developed drafting skills covering a wide range of contracts.
    • Highly developed decision making and interpersonal skills.
    • Team player with strong negotiating/persuasive skills
    • Analytical skills and attention to detail
    • Collaboration and interpersonal skills
    • Customer focus. Ability to understand trade-offs/balance between business risk and legal considerations
    • External perspective, i.e. anticipate market changes and recommend viable solutions
    • Strategic thinking
    • Commercial acumen
    • Proactive stakeholder engagement
    • Research skills
