Develop, prepare, and implement explosives safety policies and procedures and cultivate the explosives safety culture across all sites.
Provide explosives safety leadership and direction to sites in conjunction with Sites explosives managers.
Serve as primary contact on explosives safety matters pertaining to RDM BK.
Liaise with Government Departments, local authorities, and Explosives institutions.
Approve all manufacturing documentation - BK.
Appraise and implement new safety regulations alongside explosives managers as they relate to RDM BK explosives manufacturing sites.
RDM BK AIA manager to ensure continuous accreditation with SANAS and Department of Employment and Labour. Including coordination of explosives risk assessment in line with ISO 17020 and TR71.
Manage and ensure conformance to AIA regulations
Support sites explosives managers and General Manager’s operations in ensuring risk identified via risk assessments and incident investigations are implemented.
Work as the RDM BK internal explosives incident manager, ensuring that investigations are properly managed and mitigations are implemented.
Including management of RDM BK wide incidents registers and reports are completed and kept up to date.
Review accident and incident reports.
Provide technical inputs on explosives related incidents
Ensure identified solutions are implemented
Liaise with regulatory departments regarding explosive incidents
Explosives related auditing/inspections are conducted
Facilitate the interaction with RDM BK Academy to ensure the explosives training is in line with regulations and acts requirements.
Liaise and coordinate NIXT Conference, SANAS and training for RDM and represent RDM at NIXT and SAFEX.
Manage and control all explosive waste destruction
Ensure the burning is compliant at all times in terms of relevant regulations.
WHAT QUALIFICATIONS YOU SHOULD HAVE
Tech/BSc. Engineering/Explosive Management or equivalent qualification.
Proven training and experience in ordnance manufacture, usage, storage, testing and destruction.
At least 7 years’ experience working with explosives, ordnance or ammunition (development, manufacturing, usage and destruction).
Knowledge of Explosives Act and relevant explosive legislation is essential.
Decision-maker, motivated and self-disciplined.
Proactive, investigative with tenacity & initiative.
Verbal and written communication skills.
Knowledge of SHE/OHS/Quality Systems advantageous
Driver's licence.
Computer literate (MS Office) with good presentation skills.
