    Finacial Policy Advisor

    The Financial Planning Institute of Southern Africa (FPI), a SAQA-recognised professional body, is seeking the services of a Policy Advisor. Reporting to the FPI’s Head of Relevance, the successful applicant will be responsible for providing input into and giving advice around FPI positioning as this related to Policy in the financial services / insurance industry, amongst others. Specific duties will include:

    Essential Functions:

    • Initiate, participate in and review various working groups or committees, internally and with stakeholders;
    • Provide input into creating clear Terms of Reference for working groups and committees;
    • Manage working groups in order to facilitate commentary and input on industry related subject matter so as to enhance FPI positioning;
    • Taking action on possible Advocacy related issues;
    • Nurture relationships with National Treasury, The FSCA, The Department of Social Development, SARS, FIA, ASISA, and any other relevant industry body which may potentially hold a relationship benefit to the FPI;
    • Produce and publish industry commentary;
    • Ensure wide spread media coverage of FPI positions together with Marketing Department;
    • Provide input and commentary on government discussion documents;
    • Proactively influence legislation through engagement with stakeholders;
    • Scan legislation and green papers and where appropriate suggest actions to be taken;
    • Collaborate with HOD in respect of technical research;
    • Assist in identifying topics for FPI to develop positions in;
    • Initiate research and surveys when applicable in collaboration with HOD;
    • Amongst others.

    Required education, knowledge, skills, abilities and attributes:

    • Related Degree / Diploma in Law or Financial Planning;
    • At least 1 year’s prior experience within the Financial Services Industry;
    • An FPI Professional Membership would be advantageous;
    • Prior related experience and knowledge associated with the Financial Services industry;
    • Highly computer literate (MS Office suite);
    • Excellent interpersonal skills to develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders;
    • Excellent written, presentation and oral communication skills;
    • Team player;
    • Must be willing and able to travel when required.

    Notes and contact:

    • The salary band for this role is between R 20 000.00 – R 25 000.00 CTC per month;
    • The salary band mentioned above is intended for guidance purposes only. Any offer made herein will be based on experience and qualifications, and will be made strictly in FPI’s sole discretion;
