    Financial Accountant - JHB

    Job Objectives

    • Performs month-end close responsibilities in an accurate and timely manner to ensure accurate reporting.
    • Conducts the tax reporting according to local rules, including the tax pack and handling of any queries and variances. 
    • Prepares and delivers financial reporting according to local rules, laws and regulations, as well as in compliance with IFRS and Volvo Group reporting standards.
    • Posts journal entries, reconciles accounts and maintains a complete and accurate general ledger.
    • Processes daily banking transactions and monitors liquidity.
    • Supports continuous process improvements within the accounting and finance function.
    • Assisting with annual audit preparations.
    • Ensures practices are compliant with good internal controls.
    • Performs ad-hoc reporting and analysis in support of the Local and Regional Management Team. 
    • Performs other duties and special projects as required by the business.
    • Assist with relevant compliance activities and research.

    Qualification & Job Experience

    • Comm Accounting and/or B.Com Honours .
    • Relevant professional qualification in financial accounting, eg. CPA, CIMA, ACA, ACCA etc.
    • Minimum of 6 years working experience in financial accounting, reporting and consolidation, financial planning, business analysis and tax, preferably in the financial service industry.   
    • Experience in Financial Services, Banking, or a related industry will be prioritized.
    • Understanding of financial services and the relevant IFRS reporting, (in particular IFRS 16, IFRS 9).
    • Knowledge of reporting and planning procedures within a multi-national environment preferred.
    • Working experience in appropriate VFS and Volvo Group accounting and finance systems preferred.
    • Working experience showing fluency in English (oral / written / interpersonal).
    • Working experience showing the ability to understand and interpret needs of different stakeholders as well as aspects of the financial.

    Key Competencies

    • Knowledge of financial services products and services, in particular usage-based finance will be prioritized.
    • Ability to classify and manage multiple priorities.  
    • Attention to detail.  
    • Analytical skills. 
    • MS Office applications: Advanced/Expert level in Excel, PowerPoint. 
    • Superior written and oral communications skills.
    • Strong personal credibility, integrity and ethics.
    • Strong interpersonal skills.
