    Financial Manager: FMCG & Dealz

    Purpose of the job

    • To analyse, understand and report on the costs and  performance of the FMCG, Dealz businesses and PEP IT department.
    • To enhance these business’ understanding of financial performance and key trends through continuous process reviews and improvements.
    • To be a trusted advisor for the FMCG and Dealz businesses with the finance department. 

    Key Responsibilities

    • Monthly financial and management reporting, supporting commentary and schedules
    • Quarterly forecasting
    • Annual budget and 3 year plan submissions
    • Responsible for analysing, understanding and reporting on all aspects of gross margin (front margin, supplier rebates, stock adjustments etc.)
    • Annalise and provide explanations for movements in other P&L balances (such as sales, direct costs, cost recoveries etc.) compared to budget and prior year, as well as non-P&L indicators (such as stock holding and stock turn). 
    • Maintain a thorough understanding of business’ activity and initiatives and impact there-off on financial performance.
    • Maintenance of healthy relationship with internal customers
    • Ad hoc assignments and investigations (e.g. Authorising payments)

    Required Knowledge, Skills and Competencies

    • CA(SA) advantageous
    • Post-graduate qualification in the financial field
    • 3 - 5 years relevant retail accounting experience (advantageous)
    • Commercially astute, articulate, strong technical skills, insightful and an influential leader impacting at both strategic and operational level
    • Competencies required: Responsibility; Problem assessment; Strong analytical skills; Detail orientation; Business acumen; Good communication skills; Innovation; Building and maintaining relationships and Leadership
