    Fleet Manager

    Role Purpose

    An opportunity has become available to join our Sales Team as a Fleet Manager. The purpose of this role is to oversee proper tracking and maintenance of all company vehicles including managing the process of processing of fuel cards, vehicle tracking, licencing and regular maintenance thereof. The Fleet Manager role is based in Cape Town and reports directly to the Sales Operations Manager.

    This position is responsible for ensuring that all Mukuru vehicles are always in a roadworthy condition and therefore sufficiently maintained and serviced with proper licensing and company branding displayed. The Fleet Manager will need to review all current processes and methodologies to ensure that proper controls, record keeping and efficient, systematic processes are put into place to effectively track, maintain and have proper oversight of the use of Mukuru vehicles.
    Internal Liaison takes place with the sales teams. External liaison takes place with service providers and partners.


    Duties and Responsibilities (includes but is not limited to):

    • To ensure proper maintenance of vehicles
    • Ensure that each vehicle is always roadworthy, correctly branded and that up-to-date license disks are displayed on all vehicles
    • Ensure that service records, manuals are always up to date and that any repairs or maintenance required is done as not to cause any damage to the Mukuru brand
    • Ensure that all safety equipment is present in all vehicles i.e. spare wheel, jack etc.
    • Ensure that a proper process is in place to ensure the safe parking / locking up of vehicles when not in use
    • To ensure proper controls are always in place to ensure the proper use of Mukuru vehicles
    • Ensure that drivers are correctly vetted and have the necessary licenses, permits etc. to operate a Mukuru vehicle
    • Ensure that drivers are properly onboarded on the use of Mukuru vehicles and the rules governing the use of the Mukuru vehicles e.g. No persons allowed in the vehicle other than the driver or any other approved Mukuru employees
    • Ensure that the vehicle tracking devices and systems are working at all times
    • Ensure that a proper logging system for use of the vehicles is in place
    • To oversee costs, expenditure and create monthly reports
    • Keep log of status of all vehicles – current market value, maintenance plans, service plans etc.
    • Ensure that sufficient insurance plans are maintained on vehicles as well as for insurance on any equipment which drivers may need to take out on the road with them e.g. Laptop
    • Identify ways to save on expenditure while not compromising on quality
    • Report on savings achieved by effectively managing the fleet of vehicles
    • Collate all relevant information in the correct report template and submit reports
    • To oversee route planning and scheduling
    • Ensure that there are always sufficient drivers available / rostered
    • Ensure that maps / GPS devices have current information for quick and effective route planning
    • Have a safety plan in place for “high risk” areas and ensure that drivers are sufficiently trained on this
    • Ensure that drivers are aware that all equipment such as laptops, any collateral etc. is stored safely in the boot of the vehicle and that the boot is locked at all times


    Minimum Requirements:

    • Grade 12 or equivalent (Essential)
    • Degree/Diploma in Supply Chain / Transport / Logistics Management (Essential)
    • Driver’s license (Essential)
    • 3 – 5 years’ experience in Fleet Management (Essential)
    • Experienced in overseeing multiple vehicles (Essential)
    • Experience in route scheduling and cost saving (Essential)
    • Experienced in liaising with drivers and managing routes (Essential)
    • Technical knowledge of vehicles (Desirable)
    • Knowledge of the Road Traffic Act, fines, licencing renewals etc
    • Knowledge of fleet management methodologies and systems
    • Knowledge of tracker reports and interpretation thereof
    • Knowledge of Mukuru products and services
    • Knowledge of administration processes and supplier negotiation
