NQF level 1 or 2 (Abet level 3 certificate or equivalent (Grade 9). No experience required. willingness to work shifts and after hours (weekends, public holidays and Sundays). Willingness to work overtime on short notice when required.
Appropriate basic literacy and numeracy skills. Appropriate experience in a large industrial kitchen and in preparing patients meals in a hospital environment.
Be health and strong, able to lift heavy objects and items and be on the feet the entire day. Wiling to work a 12 hour shift system, weekends, public holidays and overtime when required. Possess physical strength and cope with physical demands of the post.
Duties:
Clean kitchen utensils and equipment. Provide catering support services. Keep stock of kitchen utensils and equipment. Apply hygiene and safety measures. Maintain quality control measures of all food provided. Removal of garbage disposal. Prepare food, snack and beverages (water, tea, coffee, milk, sugar and cold drinks).
Setup and convey crockery, cutlery and equipment to dining areas. Serve food and beverages. Responsible for food supplies and report waste and losses.
Follow correct hygiene and safety procedures within the food service unit. Follow and adhere to elementary control measures and standard operational procedures. Cleaning of all work areas, storage areas, utensils and equipment.
