    Forensic Analyst

    Apply analytical skills to ensure data used for all forensic work is reconciled and fit for purpose.

    Critical objectives and responsibilities:

    • Apply analytical skills to ensure data used to all forensic work is reconciled and fit for purpose.Assess fraud alerts provided by the ICB against the customer database and update the “watch list” for future monitoring.

    • Conduct monitoring and investigations into exceptions reflected on all automated reports.

    • Perform investigations into all potential fraud alerts generated via the forensic system.

    • Assist to strengthen the control environment by introducing new initiatives towards achieving an effective control system within the business.

    • Assist with investigations (preliminary and formal).

    • Proactively identify fraud risks and control inefficiencies.

    • Provide input into the departmental fraud risk report to business segments and recommendations to enhance the control environment in order to mitigate the risk of fraud.

    • Assist in identifying additional fraud detection initiatives.

    • Conduct assigned detection initiatives aligned to the departmental annual planning document.

    • Ensure compliance of the business units to the sanctions screening process.

    • Distribute screened results to the various business units.

    • Conduct process walkthrough reviews to identify problem areas and offer recommendations.

    • Review the screened results received from the business units.

    Experience, knowledge & skills required   

    • Grade 12.
    • Bachelor’s degree would be advantageous.
    • Professional membership of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (CFE accreditation).
    • Expertise in programming languages to query data and perform analysis e.g. SQL, SAS etc.
    • 1 – 2 years’ experience in a proactive Fraud Detection and/or forensic role in a financial services industry (exposure to short term insurance will be an advantage)
    • Fraud Data and Analytics will be an advantage
