Front End Developer / JavaScript Expert at Kurtosys Systems

THE OPPORTUNITY:

The role is that of a technical savvy, “JavaScript guru” that is passionate about solving complex problems within a web environment. We have some of the worlds largest Asset Managers as clients on our Digital Platform (which we call DXM). These clients need to have regular enhancements and updates made to their digital sites. The team in which this role operates contains web content creators and other front end engineers. This role focuses on the more complex area of understanding the different layers within the web and using JavaScript to manipulate and achieve the desired result. The opportunity also involves solving incidents that come up from time to time, where the custom JavaScript used on the client site, often plays a role.

WE WOULD LIKE YOU TO:

• Implement solutions using the built-in functionality offered by our platform (WordPress, Elementor, various widgets and other unique DXM-functionalities) and using front end scripting
• Solve complex problems by connecting the dots until you find the root cause of the problem within the clients digital solution
• Assisting on integrating our Kurtosys-apps into client sites where the requirement is a bit on the “special” and complex side as we need to account for various factors and business rules to be kept in place for some clients
• Understand the digital world of web in terms of how HTML, CSS, API calls, JavaScript and other scripts on the page plays a role to retrieve data and present a web page
• Work with a wide range of systems, stakeholders, processes, and technologies to own and solve the business requirement
• Provide creative options on issues raised by the rest of the Web Service team
• Participate in Knowledge Sharing sessions and train and upskill with fellow team members

EDUCATION & TRAINING:

• Advanced experience in HTML and CSS3 essential
• Advanced experience in JavaScript essential
• Software development background preferable
• Design background preferable
• Agile training preferable

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:

• Practical experience of 2-3 years using WordPress and/or Elementor
• Practical experience of 3-5 years in using JavaScript to achieve specific results
• Understanding of client-server architecture
• Understanding of RESTful API data transmission
• Extensive knowledge of the main programming and markup languages of web, which includes HTML, CSS, jQuery, JavaScript and basic PHP and SQL
• Basic UX/UI best practice

SKILLS & ABILITIES:

• Be proactive in your approach to ensure the solution is sound in the long run; or making a piece of new functionality more robust for any edge cases
• Manage own timings and report those timings on the relevant time tracking software
• Effective communication to team members, management and other individuals within the company
• Raise any issues in a timeously manner, with some options to solve the problem
• Ability to grasp custom functionalities built by Kurtosys into DXM in order to utilize these in existing implementations
• Very good understanding of WordPress backend setup and process
• Ability to handle multiple different client requirements and tasks
• Excellent stress management skills
• Be able to communicate effectively
