    Frontshop Lead - Ikageng, Potchefstroom (New Store)

    Job Description

    • Dis-Chem Pharmacies has an exciting opportunity available for a Frontshop Lead (Manager) at our new Store of the Future in Ikageng, Potchefstroom in the North West.
    • As the Frontshop Lead, you will take ownership of the overall profitability, operational performance and customer experience of the store, while ensuring that the Dis-Chem brand values and standards are consistently upheld.
    • This is an exciting opportunity to play a key leadership role in a new-generation Dis-Chem store, combining exceptional customer service, strong commercial performance, effective people management and innovative retail practices.

    Minimum Requirements

    Essential:

    • Grade 12 / Matric
    • Minimum 5 years’ retail store management experience
    • Computer literate – MS Office
    • Strong retail administration and management experience, including receiving, till operations, cash office and customer service
    • Basic financial knowledge, including GP, mark-up and VAT
    • Strong analytical, numerical and time-management skills
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
    • Willing and able to work retail hours

    Advantageous:

    • Diploma or Advanced Certificate in Management, BCom Degree, Retail Management Diploma or relevant Commercial qualification
    • Minimum 2 years’ experience with SAP, UNISOLV and/or QlikView
    • Previous experience with Kronos
    • Basic IR, management or accounting knowledge

    Key Responsibilities

    Store Operations & Profitability

    • Take overall responsibility for store profitability, sales performance and operational efficiency.
    • Assist with budget preparation and ensure effective management of store expenses and financial objectives.
    • Analyse financial and operational information to identify trends, opportunities and areas requiring corrective action.
    • Ensure the store achieves set sales targets across Health, Beauty and FMCG.
    • Develop and implement strategies to increase customer traffic, market share and profitability.
    • Monitor local market trends, customer initiatives and competitor activity.

    Stock & Inventory Management

    • Take overall responsibility for store inventory and stock management.
    • Ensure accurate stock ordering and appropriate stock levels are maintained.
    • Monitor and manage shrinkage, dormant stock, negative stock and out-of-stock lines.
    • Oversee stock takes, investigations and reporting.
    • Ensure physical stock balances with the inventory ledger in SAP.
    • Monitor goods in transit and ensure adherence to relevant SOPs.
    • Investigate negative GP values and manual purchases and implement corrective action where required.

    Merchandising & Promotions

    • Ensure all merchandising activities comply with Dis-Chem standards.
    • Ensure promotional stock, displays, pricing and layouts are implemented correctly and timeously.
    • Maintain excellent store condition and visual merchandising standards.
    • Optimise store layout and customer traffic flow to maximise sales and customer satisfaction.
    • Ensure promotional displays are planned and implemented at least 24 hours before promotions break.

    Cash, Banking & Financial Controls

    • Take complete ownership of store cash resources, daily takings and banking.
    • Ensure all banking and cash office procedures are accurately followed.
    • Monitor and investigate tender discrepancies, float discrepancies and transaction variances.
    • Review daily takings and turnover reconciliations.
    • Ensure transaction integrity and compliance with internal control procedures.
    • Monitor cashier service levels, productivity, overtime and casual spend.
    • Manage price overrides and ensure these are kept to a minimum.

    Customer Experience

    • Create an exceptional customer experience in line with Dis-Chem’s service standards and 7-star hospitality mindset.
    • Resolve customer queries and complaints promptly and professionally.
    • Ensure customer requests are actioned daily.
    • Drive Better Rewards loyalty sign-ups and customer engagement.
    • Support customers in navigating the wider Dis-Chem ecosystem and services.
    • Work closely with the Hub Advisor and other departments to ensure customers are seamlessly connected to the right services, including Better Rewards, Clinic, Cover, Dispensary and the Dis-Chem App.

    People Management & Leadership

    • Lead, motivate and develop the store team to achieve operational, financial and customer service objectives.
    • Provide coaching, mentoring and ongoing support to employees and junior management.
    • Manage staffing, scheduling, delegation and prioritisation of tasks.
    • Monitor and manage employee performance and ensure development plans are implemented.
    • Ensure employees receive appropriate training and provide feedback on training effectiveness.
    • Manage day-to-day HR administration, including leave, working hours and scheduling.
    • Take ownership of the Kronos workforce management system, where applicable.
    • Identify and develop employees with potential for progression into more senior roles.
    • Promote a positive, accountable and high-performance team culture.
