Functional Head: ICT Centre Management at City of Tshwane

Job purpose

• To ensure overall management, operation, maintenance and continuous improvement of the physical infrastructure supporting the organisation’s data centre facilities

Appointment requirements

• An appropriate three-year career-related tertiary qualification (national diploma or degree) in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or any engineering-related study field
• The following relevant technical certifications will be an added advantage: Certified Data Centre Management Professional (CDCMP); occupational health and safety certification
• Registration with the Engineering Council of South Africa as a Professional Engineer, Professional Engineering Technologist, or Candidate Engineer will be an added advantage
• At least six years’ experience in data centre or facilities management environment
• A valid Code B driving licence
• Computer literacy
• Must undergo a criminal record check and such a person shall allow their fingerprints to be taken by the Tshwane Metro Police Department at own cost

Primary functions

• Manage and maintain the data centre’s physical infrastructure to ensure the continuous availability, reliability and efficiency of critical facility systems
• Ensure the resilience, sustainability and optimal utilisation of data centre infrastructure through effective planning, risk management and business continuity practices
• Ensure compliance with legislative, regulatory and organisational requirements through the implementation of operational standards, policies and best practices
• Manage contracts, assets, financial resources and service providers to ensure the efficient, cost-effectiveness and sustainable operation of the data centre facilities
