Gaming and Development Educator at Shaw Academy

Shaw Academy is looking for a subject matter expert on gaming development and maintenance to join our expanding technology faculty that will teach and upskill students all over the world.

Are you able to teach others how to plan, design and produce video games for computers, mobile devices, or game consoles which involves visual content for the game and writing code to implement all the games features and functionality?

The ideal candidate will have a recognised qualification in computer science or gaming technology and practical work experience in this field and a:

• Proven working experience in full lifecycle game development
• Hands on experience primarily with C++ or other programming languages (Java, C, etc)
• High level knowledge of APIs and libraries
• Expert in one or more programming specialties (artificial intelligence, 3D Rendering, 3D animation, physics, multiplayer/networking, or audio)
• Up to date with the latest gaming trends, techniques, best practices, and technologies

This role is a full-time contract role with a possibility of becoming a permanent position. Should the course prove successful, future courses would be looked at and the opportunity to build out a faculty of courses in the area.

Essential skills you will need to do the job:

• Be able to develop and organise your knowledge and research into a comprehensive and structured curriculum of 32 lessons aimed at a novice negotiator advancing to a proficient level.
• An excellent ability to communicate the lesson content with authority, while entertaining the students with anecdotes and context that will make the lesson interactive and content that comes alive.
• Work with our production and quality assurance team to develop engaging lessons and provide feedback to ensure that our students have an outstanding learning experience.
• Have excellent computer skills – particularly with the use of Microsoft Power Point and G Suite.
