    Gender Sourcing Specialist

    JOB CONTEXT

    The HR Officer "Gender Sourcing Specialist" will be based in Johannesburg, South African Regional Bureau, supporting the 11 countries in the Southern Africa Region. The Regional Office is looking to shift gear in gender parity through a two-pronged approach which focuses of hiring female, engaging, developing and retaining them through a sophisticated Female Talent Acquisition & Retention strategy. The consultant will develop, gain support for, and implement the strategies needed to identify, attract, recruit and retain the best diverse talent to meet WFP's organizational needs. The ideal candidate has experience, passion and understanding for workforce diversity and inclusion; constantly thinks about how to introduce new methods and ideas for identifying and engaging top talent; and successfully enlists support workforce diversity engagement initiatives.

    KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)

    • Develop a better understanding of the organizational requirements in relation to the UN and WFP's gender parity objectives and develop a Female Talent Acquisition and retention/empowerment strategy through various ground-breaking initiatives to support these goals
    •  Engage different stakeholders and deliver diversity and inclusion awareness sessions to foster a community action within the region in support of WFP's gender parity goals
    • Work with the Talent Acquisition Specialist through use of innovative sourcing tools, social media platforms, resume mining and other impactful methods to find qualified diverse talent especially female from under-represented groups, deploying tailored recruitment strategies as relevant
    • Develop and implement strategies to improve gender diversity and attraction of especially qualified women applicants in the diaspora and countries within the South African Region.
    • Observe and manage WFP HR hiring practices and procedures, to support compliance with internal recruitment workflows and ensure non-biased language in job descriptions, interview questions and other hiring material
    • Collaborate with HR teams,, partner with managers and functional heads to understand their specific functional employee needs and plan/implement solutions to meet these needs
    • Build partnership, develop and maintain strong relationships that include outreach institutions of higher learning, professional and female associations, formal and informal networks and other recruiting agencies to ensure sourcing produces are viable gender balanced talent pipeline, with under-represented groups
    • Create procedures to manage and attract candidates hired and ensure effective onboarding processes to conducting and analysing exit interview reports to provide management insight on gender outreach and retention programme. Prepare periodic gender parity reports and analysis for the region.
    • Any other duties as required

    STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    Education: Advanced university degree in Human Resource Management, Public or Business Administration, Industrial Psychology or other related fields, or First University degree with additional years of related work experience or training/courses

    EXPERIENCE:

    • Three (3) years of postgraduate professional experience in the field of gender, talent acquisition and management. Experience at the international or regional level is desirable.
    • Experience working as part of a multicultural and diverse team, and/or leading one 
    • Deep knowledge of the recruitment market and trends in Southern Africa Region; Experience in sourcing and recruiting hard-to-find profiles
    • Demonstrated success developing and deploying creative female acquisition and empowerment initiatives, creating effective candidate pipeline methodologies and effective outreach strategies
    • Structured and lead multiple talent projects simultaneously to successful  completion
    • Experience in sourcing and recruiting hard-to-find profiles 
    • Strong knowledge of Applicant Tracking Systems, technology, and sourcing tools. Experience with SAP recruitment platforms is highly desirable

    Language: Fluency (Level C) in both spoken and written English. Desirable to have intermediate knowledge (Level B) of a second official UN Language: French, and/or WFP's working language, Portuguese

    DESIRED EXPERIENCES FOR ENTRY INTO THE ROLE

    • Ability to leverage social media to connect with diverse communities to brand and market organisation and jobs.
    • Sound theoretical understanding of HR concepts and principles with a broad knowledge of best practices, techniques and processes.
    • Good communication skills with the ability to persuade, influence and adapt communication style to different situations and individuals.
    • Knowledge of common business principles and processes and the ability to quickly assimilate UN/WFP specific processes and systems.
    • Ability to build and maintain effective work relationships with human resources counterparts, managers and staff within HQ/regional/country office.
    • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
    • Ability to establish priorities, and to plan, coordinate and monitor own work plan and those under his/her supervision. Ability to draft clear concise reports or rationale for human resources decisions.

    SALARY & BENEFITS

    • Gross monthly salary range: R39,544 to R56,330
    • Benefits: Annual Leave, Sick Leave, Medical Insurance and Social Security
