    General Accounting Specialist

    Your Responsibilities

    • Accounting and Financial Transactions: Performing general accounting activities, applying techniques and standards to solve unusual issues. Applying accounting techniques and standard practices to the classification and recording of financial transactions. Reviewing accounting journals in accordance with the tables of authority.
    • Reporting and Analysis: Executing accounting analyses and reports as assigned. Understanding US GAAP reporting requirements, with a detailed knowledge of IFRS and experience in implementing new standards. Co-ordinating with the Hub to ensure all reporting is completed accurately and in a timely manner. Involving in projects, providing insight and contributing to project success by through financial data analysis and executing financial related tasks. Supporting B-BBEE process through providing financial info as and when required.
    • Balance sheet Reviews & reconciliations: Reviewing reconciliations by applying technical accounting skills. Following up on reconciliation queries and resolution. Preparing balance sheet review and highlight areas that need attention.
    • Internal controls: Participating in internal control testing and prepares relevant documentation. Demonstrating a good understanding of controls over financial reporting.
    • Risk assessment of Financials: Supporting management with assessment of balance sheet and off-balance sheet risk through regular reviews with business, following up on long outstanding matters, finding mitigating solutions. Conducting investigations and reconciliations of accounts monthly. Implementing continuous improvement.
    • Financial Statements: Preparing of annual financial statements.
    • Fiduciary: Liaising with external auditors during audits. Ensuring compliance with companies act of South Africa
    • Project Management: Managing regular projects in accounting area.

    Your background

    • A bachelor’s degree in accounting is mandatory. Holding a post degree in finance or CA(SA) qualification would be an added advantage.
    • Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in a similar role (general accounting or shared services) along with experience of implementing new IFRS standards.
    • Required hands on experience in working of ERP systems like SAP.
    • Required in-depth knowledge of MS Office, specifically Excel – Intermediate to advanced level.
    • Having project management experience in the financial arena will be an added advantage.
    • Required strong good communication and interpersonal skills.
