RPO Recruitment’s client, a leading building contractor in Gauteng is seeking an experienced General Foreman to join their team on large commercial building projects in Johannesburg.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee and coordinate daily construction activities on site
Manage subcontractors, labour teams, and site resources
Ensure projects are completed according to programme, quality, and safety standards
Monitor productivity and resolve site-related issues efficiently
Conduct regular inspections to ensure quality workmanship
Liaise with Site Management, consultants, and suppliers
Maintain strong health & safety compliance across all site operations
Requirements:
Relevant qualification in the built environment
Proven experience as a General Foreman on large commercial building developments
Strong background working on high-value projects such as offices, shopping centres, mixed-use developments, hotels, or similar large-scale structures
Excellent knowledge of construction methods, site coordination, and programme management
Ability to manage multiple subcontractors and large site teams effectively
Strong understanding of health & safety regulations and quality control procedures
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and project programmes
Strong leadership, organisational, and communication skills
