    General Manager: Customer Solutions

    Description
    Key deliverables and outputs

    Strategic/Financial

    • Apply effective problem solving and conceptualisation skills to ensure that appropriate strategies and tactics are employed in solutions design, and where necessary, draw in the expertise of internal resources.
    • Clearly articulate the product offering of all divisions with the aim of consolidating the unique selling proposition of the Group.
    • Work closely with internal business in order to enhance current business activities to maximise results.
    • Ensure the development and implementation of clear and coherent strategies for the generation of additional revenue generating opportunities from existing customer as well as by exploring untapped markets and industries.
    • Gather intelligence on industry/market trends to equip the organisation with an understanding of the competitive landscape and to position it for increased effectiveness in winning new business and retention of existing ones.
    • Identify the need for innovative product offerings as well as ensure prioritisation of resources (i.e. budgetary, systems, people, etc.) required for delivery in line with the profitability of the product / solution.
    • Ensure that all solutions developed/implemented improve revenue and business profitability by a set target (financial/growth target).
    • Evaluate and review the use of VAPs in providing effective and customisable customer solutions in order to improve the profitability of the organisation.
    • Set annual sales targets per VAP, monitor performance against the targets on a monthly basis and provide feedback and reports on VAPs sales targets.

    Operational

    • Create and foster a business development culture which embraces innovation, strategic, proactive and client-centric approach in identifying, actively pursuing and closing new business opportunities.
    • Improve productivity across internal stakeholders to ensure focus on priorities.
    • Continuously encourage and support improved business processes to respond to changes in market conditions.
    • Ensure the provision of accurate and timeous reporting to the relevant stakeholders in the business.
    • Play a leadership role in facilitating organisational awareness across functional teams.
    • Evaluate, advise and summarise our clients on their fuel data.
    • Provide guidance to the sales and support environment in terms of fuel management
    • Ensure specialist evaluation of fuel data to reduce fuel risk
    • Ensure reporting (daily, weekly and monthly) on the fuel management data to both internal (sales) and external (direct customers) suppliers (fuel stations) customer.
    • Demonstrate value of VAPs through enhanced reporting and regular internal and external reviews
    • Ensure that the Avis Budget internal and external stakeholders support the maximisation of the Retail maintenance and service plans sales
    • Manage the profitability and portfolio mix of the retail maintenance and service plans.

    Stakeholders (internal & external customers, suppliers, shareholders, communities) 

    • Ensure close coordination and collaboration with internal stakeholders to promote integrated support to business development efforts.
    • Continuously communicate and build strong internal relationships with specific stakeholders to create buy-in and get the teams aligned to the conversion and subsequent delivery of the solution, maintaining and improving the service levels.
    • Implement strategies to embed customers' loyalty and create a positive customer experience.
    • Ensure knowledge sharing across functional areas and with various stakeholders for informed decision making and risk mitigation.

    • Provide clear direction and decisive leadership to direct reports, ensuring all are aligned to the goals and have a clear purpose.
    • Support and encourage direct reports to drive their own individual development plans in order to further grow as professionals in their jobs.
    • Set clearly defined performance standards / targets for direct reports, holding them accountable to achieve these and providing support and guidance where needed.
    • Create and maintain a constructive atmosphere within the team, engaging and motivating direct reports to always give their best, while respecting any areas of diversity (whether areas of expertise, cultural, gender, age, background, etc.).
    • Ensure direct reports adhere to set business policies and procedures, emphasising the importance of general discipline at work and objectively correcting and handling any deviations as they arise.
    • Resource and staff the team appropriately, considering the relevance of current and new jobs as well as the most suitable ways in which to place or replace any vacancies.

    The role requires close engagement and collaboration with key external stakeholders such as automotive manufacturers, dealer groups, customers, service providers and other relevant stakeholders. Internal stakeholders include the pricing team, sales and the Executive Committee.

    Requirements
    Academic Qualifications

    Essential:

    • Grade 12/Matric/equivalent
    • Relevant tertiary qualification

      Advantageous: 

    • Commerce degree
    • Commerce Masters
    • Work Experience

    Essential:

    • 5 years Solutions development experience
    • 5 years Senior Management experience
    • Cross-functional working experience
    • Stakeholder engagement (including influencing and negotiating at various levels)

     
    Advantageous:

    • Automotive industry experience
