Job Description:

Your role will include but not limited:

• Conducting routine on-the-face quality control of ground support installation processes and systems.
• Monitoring and collecting data for compliance to ground support installation standards and processes.
• Collecting instrumentation and ground movement data.
• Routine rockmass mapping of active working areas.
• This role is in the Technical Support Services department at a GBF8/CL level reporting to the Geotechnical Engineer

Qualifications:

• Grade 12 / Relevant NQF Level 4 qualification.
• Minerals Council/Chamber of Mines Strata Control Certificate (advantageous)
• Certificate of competency – Competent A or Miner’s certificate (advantageous)

Role Specific knowledge and experience:

• Minimum 2 years’ experience as Geosciences Quality Control Observer/Technician/Monitor or similar in an underground mine e.g., Geology Observer, Geotech Observer, Strata Control Assistant.
• Strong Knowledge and perform underground ground support quality control activities e.g., Pull testing, measuring of underground support for payment certificate purposes.
• Computer literacy – MS Office Suite
• Must have strong administrative and organisational skills.
• Ability to work under pressure, be independent and a self-starter.
• Knowledge of typical ground support quality control processes e.g., concrete cube tests; bolt pull tests (advantageous).
• Basic geology knowledge and rockmass behaviour and associated ground support measures (advantageous).
