    GIS & Software Sales Consultant – Remote

    ENVIRONMENT:

    • Our client is an open-source company specialising in software development and Geospatial Information Systems (GIS). They are seeking to appoint a GIS & Software Sales Consultant to drive business growth and profitability by promoting and selling the company’s hosting, consulting, support, training, and related services and products.
    • This role involves providing expert technical guidance and developing long-term client relationships grounded in the value and benefits of open-source technology.

    DUTIES:

    • Sales strategy: Develop their sales strategy with management and implement it.
    • Technical sales and demonstrations: Conduct high-level demonstrations of GeoServer, GeoNode, G3W, GeoSight, their in-house developed Cloud bench platform, and related spatial software to showcase functionality and cost-value benefits to potential clients.
    • Customer needs analysis: Analyse client pain points to recommend appropriate GIS tools, training solutions or professional services (e.g., SDI, database design or QGIS plugin development).
    • Business development: Actively identify new sales opportunities and manage existing client accounts within key market verticals.
    • Solution proposal: Prepare technical-commercial offers (tenders, quotations and proposals) ensuring alignment with customer requirements and the Company’s strategic goals.
    • Product training and support: Provide technical input during the pre-sales process and support customer success through training and support.
    • Relationship management: Maintain strong, reliable relationships with clients by delivering professional and knowledgeable service.
    • Work with marketing: Stay current with industry trends in open-source GIS, QGIS, QGIS plugins, and competitive proprietary technologies. Use social media and targeted marketing to build awareness of their products. Plan the creation of materials on their YouTube channel. Work with their management and marketing teams on marketing strategy, understanding the market, product and service prioritisation, pricing etc.
    • CRM administration: Maintain accurate records of sales activities and customer information in their CRM systems. Ensure the CRM is optimised for maximum lead generation and conversions.

    REQUIREMENTS:

    Education and Skills

    • Educational background: Either a degree in marketing with knowledge of open-source GIS or a degree in GIS, geography, environmental science, computer science, software development or a related field.
    • Technical expertise: High proficiency in QGIS (including plugins) or other open-source GIS tools, geospatial data and related business processes and a strong understanding of how they compare to proprietary technology like Esri.
    • Sales experience: 3–5 years of professional experience in GIS software sales, technical consulting, or geospatial roles. Proven ability to meet sales performance standards and targets. Proven sales record.
    • Sales experience: Generate leads from cold calls, build relationships and clearly articulate proposals and solutions to prospective customers.
    • Communication: Strong verbal and written skills, with the ability to convey complex spatial concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
    • Analytical ability: Solid understanding of spatial data formats, coordinate systems, data modelling, algorithms used in GIS and GIS workflows.
    • Languages: Strong command of English (proficiency in additional languages relevant to the Company’s global regions is a plus).
