Grade 12 plus National Diploma (NQF level 6)/Bachelor’s degree (NQF level 7) in GISc/Cartography or relevant qualification recognized by SAQA. Compulsory registration with South African Geomatics Council (SAGC) as a GISc Technologist. Minimum of Three (3) years’ experience post registration. Valid driver’s license.
COMPETENCIES:
Good interpersonal, planning, coordination and project and document management skills. Excellent written, verbal communication. Knowledge of Spatial planning systems and norms of Government. Spatial modelling and analysis knowledge. GISc applications. Government Immovable Asset Management Act of 2007. Occupational Health and Safety Act of 1993 and Regulations. National Environmental Management Act of 1998. Relevant Provincial Land Administration Legislation.
Duties :
Perform technical spatial activities for infrastructure planning. Collect credible data from different sources. Capture data and update on a regular basis on required formats. Analyse data according to application requirements. Implement quality assurance. Provide all GIS information for infrastructure deliverables e.g., Infrastructure Asset Management Plan, Project Initiation Reports/ Project Business case etc. Contribute to the design of an appropriate spatial database for infrastructure planning in line with existing systems. Document functional and user requirements. Identify gap analysis. Verify spatial data. Update information. Capture metadata records. Produce fully functional maps customised to requirements of users. Compile reports. Spatial services. Develop maps. Collect and update all changes in terms of the comprehensive physical resource’s framework of the department. Confirm land and building locations. Extract data and prepare reports. Capture and update all GIS information on infrastructure reporting and related platforms. Manage electronic document system in terms of IDMS requirements.
