    Graduate Assistant Property Underwriter

     

    About The Role

    We're looking for graduates with a strong academic record for our graduates at swissre programme. The programme offers you the chance to join the dynamic, fast paced world of a highly specialised financial services organisation. Over an 18-month period, you'll receive on-the-job training in your role.

    The Opportunity
    Our client base ranging from homeowners to corporations' risks. To distinguish ourselves from the competition, we also provide services to our clients, and we share our know-how with them. We seek to help our clients grow and to thrive with them, by closing the protection gap as well as in helping our clients with their capital management.
    Deals we write in our desk range from standardized treaties to more tailored-made solutions with an extended coverage. You will collaborate with other lines of business, facultative underwriting, headquarter and structured reinsurance.

    The South Europe Middle East & Africa Property Treaty portfolio is composed of treaties covering mainly Fire, Business Interruption and Natural Catastrophes. Using your analytical skills, you will learn and analyze the key risk drivers bundled into treaties. You will support our underwriters and gain experience as a property underwriter.
    Your job will also include working on projects and tool developments, both of local or international reach.

    About You

    • Successfully completed university degree or equivalent in Technology, Mathematics, Science, Geography, Engineering, or (quantitative) Economics
    • Ability to focus on the detail while still maintaining a pragmatic approach to problem solving
    • Strong in keeping the big picture in all detailed analysis.
    • A powerful interest in economics
    • An effective team-player and a self-starter with the ability to meet deadlines
    • A quick learner who grasp complex issues quickly and is able to communicate them in clear and comprehensible terms
    • Comfortable working in an international environment with an excellent command of English and at least one other South African language
    • High proficiency in Microsoft applications Excel, PowerPoint and Word
    • Taking personal accountability and to remain constructive when plans change is required
    • Understand various partners perspective and effectively communicate solutions is also a requirement
