Group Distribution Manager at DAV Professional Placement Group

Purpose of the Job:

• We are seeking a highly skilled Group Distribution Manager to lead our distribution, logistics, and warehouse departments. This role demands a focus on optimizing customer service, maximizing asset utilization, and enhancing departmental performance to maintain competitiveness within the industry.

Main Responsibilities:

Strategy Development and Alignment:

• Drive the development of the group distribution strategy with a focus on customer service, talent development, service provider management, and environmental sustainability goals.
• Support the strategic direction and business objectives of the organization to achieve overall goals.
• Manage Service Level Agreements (SLAs) with service providers, including warehousing, forklifts, rental, and training.
• Collaborate with both internal and external stakeholders to facilitate continuous improvement initiatives.
• Foster and maintain positive relationships with key distribution leaders, stakeholders, and clients.
• Cultivate a productive work environment that enhances organizational capability and responsiveness.
• Champion company culture and values.

Operations Management:

• Act as a center of excellence for distribution functions including raw materials, work in progress, finished goods, dispatch, pallet yard, and waste processing.
• Ensure stock accuracy and maintain high standards of quality.
• Establish and uphold standards for all distribution processes.
• Focus on cost optimization throughout distribution and across the supply chain.
• Oversee the optimization of both internal and external warehouse operations.
• Manage SLAs with all service providers and internal departments.
• Implement risk management practices.
• Strive for reduction of waste within the supply chain.
• Lead project management initiatives from scoping through to delivery.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree (NQF 7) in Supply Chain, Logistics, or a related field.
• A minimum of 10 years of relevant work experience in a similar capacity.
• Extensive experience in distribution, logistics, and warehouse environments is essential.
• Proven track record of at least 10 years as a Distribution Manager or in a comparable managerial role.
• Strong knowledge of legal requirements and regulations related to distribution and transportation.
