Tertiary education at NQF level 6 or7 in Environmental Science or relevant topic including but not limited to Engineering, environmental health, environmental management, biosciences, applied science, physics or geography
Post graduate qualification is advantageous
Registration with a relevant professional body advantageous - Cand.Sci.Nat, Pr.Sci.Nat Cert.Sci.Nat. EAPASA
Experience
At least 5 to 8 years’ experience
More than 8 years’ experience as an Environmental Consultant or Specialist
At least 2 years’ experience as project manager
Duties
Assessment Environmental and Social Impact Assessments (ESIA) and Environmental and Sustainability risks in corporate mergers and acquisitions against Lender standards
Engagement with Clients and other stakeholders and providing support and guidance on critical Environmental and Sustainability aspects affecting their investment decisions
Participation in marketing and business development activities, and development of proposals
Where required, provide a support role to the delivery of ESIAs in line with South African and international standards
Undertake permit compliance audits in terms of South African legal requirements
Implementing environmental policies and practices
Devise strategies to meet targets and to encourage best practice
Devise the best tools and systems to monitor performance and implement strategies
Ensuring compliance with environmental and other applicable legislation
Assessing, analysing and collating environmental performance data and reporting information to staff, clients and regulatory bodies
Advise the organisation on how to minimise their impact in the environment
Oversee the delivery of reduction strategies
Develop and measure the success of schemes for waste management, renewable energy, recycling, pollution reduction and pollution prevention
Confirmation that materials and ingredients are ethically or environmentally sourced
Manage environmental strategy budgets
Champion all environmental issues within the organisation
Training of employees at all levels and provision of educational and informational resources
Report writing
Keep abreast of changes regarding environmental legislation and initiatives
Liaise with all regulatory bodies and Environmental Agencies
Provide oversight of environmental legal compliance the Group
Provide Specialist support in the voluntary and mandatory of sustainability disclosures
Assess and manage the implications of local and international development trends in environmental and sustainability management
