Senior Professional Officer DSO Engineering Support
A relevant BTech /BSc /Beng coupled with ECSA registration as Professional Engineer or Technologist.
5 to 8 years’ experience in QOS, the medium/high voltage electrical power systems field, and project management.
A strong understanding of NRS 048 regulations, project management, distribution system operations and optimization.
Key Performance Areas
Keeping abreast with technological and statutory developments related to the Electricity, Generation, Transmission, Distribution and Electricity Trading sectors.
Evaluating and commenting on the applicability of specific key performance indicators and measures against outcomes detailed in the department’s business and strategic plans.
Preparing capital and operating budget for Quality of Supply instruments and web-based hosting services to control expenditure against the approved budget allocations.
Monitoring and implementing corrective measures to rectify deviations and actions that are contrary to financial regulations, audit requirements and departmental procedure.
Ensuring compliance with the technical aspects of the terms and conditions of the contracts and compliance with electricity regulations and procedures.
Monitoring contract performance against agreed terms and conditions through ongoing interaction with supplier and alerting the supplier to any acts of non-conformance.
Performing Power quality monitoring and reporting functions in accordance with NRS 048.
Managing data retrieval and storage from a large fleet of instruments in excess of 300.
Coordinating and ensuring the on-time delivery of Network Control related reports (e.g. Statistical Network performance, Major incident and Interruption performance reports).
Responding to Quality of Supply related enquiries and concerns on service delivery from the general public, councillors, government departments, developers, etc., through the collection of factual information including information downloaded from quality of supply instruments an conducting the necessary investigation/research.
Monitoring and controlling the implementation and efficient maintenance of appropriate administrative workflow processes, procedures, activities and systems for general administration, record keeping and reporting requirements of the System Operator.
Preparing investigational and productivity reports referring to statistical data and qualitative information related to service delivery initiatives of the function.
