A BTech/ B degree or Advanced Diploma in Civil Engineering
Registration as Pr Eng / Pr Tech Eng or eligibility to register within 3 years of appointment
Minimum of five (5) years’ relevant experience as a traffic engineer
Computer Literacy – MS Office Suite

A Code B (08) driver’s license
Key Performance Areas
Manage staff within the Transport Network Development Division
Represent the Council at meetings with members of the public and other government and Council departments, and regular communication with same
Lead, control and undertake investigations related to:
Specific motorised and non-motorised traffic safety and capacity problems
The installation of new traffic signals by Council
The implementation of new road traffic signs and markings
Applications for outdoor advertising
Coordinate the installation of new traffic signals by service providers and identify the need for maintenance of traffic signal timing plans at existing signals in the region
Assist with budget planning, control and reporting
Manage capital projects
Lead or draft and implement local area traffic plans
