Trade Test Qualification as an Artisan: Earthmoving/Heavy Plant/Construction Plant Mechanic.
A valid Code B or C driver’s licence
Computer literacy
3-5 years post-apprenticeship experience in a relevant trade
2 years supervisory experience in a mechanical workshop environment
Knowledge of the Occupational Health & Safety Act
The successful candidate must be prepared to work overtime as well as weekends and public holidays, to meet operational requirements as determined by the Senior Superintendent
Required to work outside of normal working hours during emergency and planned overtime
Required to work on standby.
Key Performance Areas
Supervise and control all repairs, maintenance, servicing and testing of vehicles and earthmoving equipment
Allocate and control jobs of artisans and special workmen
Co-ordinate all trouble shooting and fault-finding activities
Attend to relevant administration
Enforce safety regulations and policies
Address workplace conflict/conduct and deviations from agreed performance indicators
Attend meetings and provide daily progress reports
Complete job cards and close off work orders timeously
