    • To provide strategic leadership in identifying, assessing, and managing legal and governance risks across the group, ensuring effective corporate governance frameworks, regulatory compliance, and alignment with industry best practices while supporting the organization’s strategic objectives.

    WHAT WILL YOU DO?

    Legal Risk Management

    • Design and implement a comprehensive legal risk management framework tailored to the South African financial services landscape
    • Develop detailed legal risk identification methodologies covering litigation, contractual, regulatory, and intellectual property risks
    • Create standardized legal risk assessment tools incorporating likelihood, impact, and velocity dimensions
    • Establish a legal risk register with clear ownership, controls, and mitigation strategies
    • Implement legal risk appetite statements with quantitative and qualitative thresholds
    • Design early warning indicators for emerging legal risks
    • Develop protocols for legal risk escalation and reporting
    • Establish methodologies for measuring and reporting legal risk exposure
    • Create procedures for conducting legal due diligence on new ventures, partnerships, and acquisitions
    • Implement frameworks for analyzing precedent-setting legal cases relevant to the organization
    • Design monitoring systems for tracking regulatory enforcement actions in the industry

    WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO THE TABLE?

    • LLB degree (essential)
    • Admitted Attorney or Advocate in South Africa
    • Master’s degree in Law, Corporate Governance, or related field
    • Certified Compliance Professional (CCP) or similar certification
    • 8-10 years’ experience in legal or governance roles
    • 5 years’ management experience in financial services
    • Experience with South African financial sector regulatory frameworks
    • Experience with King IV implementation and corporate governance
    • In-depth knowledge of South African legal and regulatory environment
    • Thorough understanding of King IV Corporate Governance Code
    • Knowledge of financial services legislation
    • Strong contract law knowledge
    • Corporate governance best practice expertise
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
    • Advanced stakeholder management skills
    • Superior written and verbal communication skills
    • Strategic thinking and business acumen
