    Growth and Development Manager

    The Role

    The Dealer Owned (“DO”) Business Development Team is primarily tasked with identifying and developing key DO opportunities which are aligned with the South Africa Retail Strategy to grow the number of sites location.
    To achieve this goal requires accelerated growth in the DO space by concluding negotiations of New to Industry and New to Shell opportunities. In addition, the sustainability of delivering and operationalizing growth developments is based on a robust pipeline of future credible growth developments. The pipeline requires high volume, meeting required financial hurdle rates and Network classification criteria.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Grow the Dealer Owned portfolio each year
    • Evaluate growth opportunities against retail network plan and cost to serve criteria
    • Complete business cases / investment proposals together with financial models
    • Build a sustainable, robust and credible growth development site pipeline through active networking, following opposition leads and working closely with Network Planners & Real Estate Managers
    • Reduce cost to serve / increase margin at existing Dealer Owned Sites working in close conjunction with the Sales & Operations team.
    • Manage tail, fix or exit low margin / value / volume sites freeing up volumes for core network.
    • Develop and provide progress reporting on Dealer Owned Growth Strategy
    • Collaborating with internal departments to facilitate client need fulfillment and manage stakeholders
    • Works closely with the Dealer Owned Manager and team on strategic initiatives to achieve goals
    • Able to build awareness in respective territories for Shell

    Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree
    • At least 4-10 years’ experience in similar role, Sales B2B experience is a prerequisite.
    • Strong negotiation skills is required
    • Solid relationship building techniques
    • Thorough understanding of Retail economics
    • Understanding of Retail fundamentals, formats & site design
    • Must have a track record for delivering results through others
    • Good project management skills, sense of urgency through tenacity and resilience attributes.
