    Head Corporate Affairs and Brand & Marketing, SA

    Job Summary:

    • Responsible for driving and delivering the Coporate Affairs and Brand & Marketing strategies for the country ensuring consistent and aligned delivery with the global agendas.
    • Leads the combined Corporate Affairs and Brand & Marketing team to identify opportunities and bring expertise and creativity at both strategic and execution levels within agreed budget and scorecard.
    • Fully accountable to the Country CEO and Country Client Business Heads (especially Retail and Commercial Clients where business is locally managed) for Corporate Affairs and Brand & Marketing activities, whilst ensuring their consistent understanding of both functions' scope and deliverables.
    • Represents the interests of the country Corporate Affairs and Brand & Marketing functions on the Management Team and within the function Corporate Affairs and Brand & Marketing Management Teams to help ensures strategies are relevant.
    • Leads on delivering governance, issues and risk (operational and reputational) across the country.
    • Provide thought leadership, lead and transform the region & in country marketing function.
    • Develop, manage and drive the following strategic deliverables: strategic Marketing, Strategic Brand, Marketing Communication, Digital Marketing, Corporate Events, Sponsorship and Client Engagement, Thought Leadership and the performance of the team.

    Responsibilities:

    Strategy:

    • Support the overall strategy through nuanced inputs, market research, monitoring industry trends and customer behaviors and identifying the right audiences.
    • Exude a passion for creating and managing meaningful local and belief-driven connections between clients and the bank's brand; including media/press relationships, local influencers and partners.
    • Support the execution of the global marketing campaigns and events strategy in the region, in partnership with product heads/global teams and global marketing colleagues.
    • Drive the overall communications strategy for marketing campaigns, product narratives/stories including both strategic and tactical priorities in partnership with regional and global teams.
    • Support lead generation and drive content distribution across various platforms based on local requirements and preferences.
    • Advise Global Impact and Media, Reputation & Issues team on overall crisis management strategy and how it will need to be potentially adapted for the region/market.

    Business:

    • Liaise with the global CABM team and assist in coordination and implementation of marketing strategies and campaigns, including creating engaging content that will attract the right audience.
    • Drive content marketing, including content development and maintenance, leveraging key digital expertise such as SEO, SEM, SMM and email marketing.
    • Develop overall compelling narrative and content for our communications, ensuring that best practices are leveraged and content is tailored to the stakeholders identified.
    • Partner with our social media teams to deliver unique social media campaigns, advising on the appropriate media/influencers we should partner with and the appropriate content to be leveraged, such as infographics, photography and videos.
    • Build brand awareness and client acquisition & engagement through content/thought leadership at proprietary events and industry conferences and other highly visible client engagement channels.
    • Drive the end to end execution of engagement activities, from inception (e.g. pre-event target market analysis, agenda building) to delivery (e.g., vendor/stakeholder management, communications development) and to impact (e.g. collaborate with IDA/Global Impact team to ensure impacts of our initiatives are measurable to relevant metrics).
    • Advise and pursue on potential opportunities (e.g., client opportunities/adoption of new technology) by leveraging in depth understand of industrial and regional/market nuances.
    • Collaborate with relevant stakeholders in the group for specialised content and to ensure overall alignment in messaging across regions/markets (e.g., Global Impact).
    • Partner with our Global Impact and Media, Reputations & Issues team to be the first line of support for crisis communications, making relevant contextualisation to our communications where necessary based on specific reputational risks that might be apparent/specific to the region/market.
    • Alignment to Country CEOs, and client business heads to drive their strategies and prioritise, whilst maintaining Group wide standards.
    • Lead the team to develop plans for Corporate Affairs and Brand & Marketing disciplines, deliver quality activities to drive exceptional client and corporate level experience, backed up by well design actionable metrics that are used for future decision making.
    • Ensure functioning monthly business review meetings with Segment Heads.
    • Integrate the Brand strategy into the overall business strategy of the Bank working across Corporate Affairs and Brand & Marketing platforms, such as internal and external communication.
    • Be a Brand Champion - ensure all segment and product campaigns live up to our Brand promise of Here for good while, at the same time, delivering committed business outcomes.
    • Lead the delivery of Corporate Affairs and Marketing activities in a framework that ensure they are executed within the brand specifications (brand positioning, brand architecture) to reinforce the overall SCB brand positioning through consistency in tone, manner, look and feel. Drive brand awareness and consideration in the region and achieve targeted metric levels for the region.

    Processes:

    • Ensure both functions follow their desk operating instructions.
    • Manage the KCSA and Operational Risk standards for the Corporate Affairs and Brand and Marketing teams in the country.
    • Proactively manage advertising and media agencies.
    • Identify areas for process improvement and recommend ways to increase functional effectiveness and improve operational efficiencies.

    People & Talent:

    • Able to share and advice on best practices and emerging developments across the country/region.
    • Enhance leadership capability and creative a culture of talent development and empowerment in both functions. Champion capability and training requirements for the CA and B&M teams.
    • Build in best practice to allow for solutions that are on message with the CA strategy globally and partner with COE's within CA and B&M to make sure end to end alignment is in place.
    • Assess and measure the team's activities to ensure alignment with plans, forecasts and capacity models.

    Risk Management:

    • Manage the Key Control Self Assessment (KCSA) and Operational Risk standards for their respective regions.
    • Responsible for the execution of the Bank's overall crisis communications and resolution strategy in their respective region and to provide regional flavor to any crisis-related communications.
    • Ensures that all media communications are in line with the Bank's Media Communications Policy and relevant regulatory frameworks.
    • Possess deep understanding, and help manage Global Impact-related risks profile (e.g. operational and reputational risk, people-related risk) to international standards.
    • Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group's Values and Code of Conduct.
    • Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate, and resolve risk, conduct and compliance matters.
    • Ensure that Group and regulatory expectations are effectively communicated and met across the entire CABM business.
    • Where applicable, ensure credit, operational, legal, regulatory, reputation, compliance are held to the highest standards of risk management (at a product and enterprise level as relevant).

    Governance:

    • Accountability for the Corporate Affairs and Brand & Marketing budgets and scorecards.
    • Ensure adherence to the Risk Management Framework, Group Code of Conduct and various Policies, Procedures and Guidelines of the Bank by the regional Corporate Affairs and Brand & Marketing teams.
    • For Corporate Affairs, be Reputation Risk Control Owner's representative, enforcing the associated policies and procedures across the Bank.
