A relevant qualification (NQF7) degree or advanced diploma in Operations, Logistics Management, Finance, Supply Chain Management, Commercial or similar in the field
At least five (5) years’ supervisory or management experience in warehouse/stores environment
An understanding of supply chain management processes
Excellent communication, interpersonal and report writing skills
Experience in project management principles and people management
Ability to manage diverse groups across multiple stores
A valid Code EB driver’s licence
Advanced experience with Materials Management Modules of ERP Systems (SAP Materials Management), e.g. SAP R3
Sound knowledge of Local Government legislation, supply chain policies and procedures. MFMA MMC Certification is an added advantage. If the candidate does not have it, he/she will be required to complete it within two years.
Key Performance Areas
Manage and control between 5-10 stores
Manage inventory and stock control processes to ensure sound
financial and administrative control
Maintain security of all stores areas
Manage physical stock taking
Ensure proper asset management
Manage and coordinate stores and inventory by optimising stock levels by ensuring appropriate planning and levels of stock to prevent stock outs
Safeguard the City’s inventory and stock to minimise shrinkage and inventory variances
Ensure compliance to occupational health and safety Act, regulations and policies
Manage Human Resources
Facilitate and manage stock tenders and contracts
Manage internal R&M/CAPEX projects in order to attain benchmark spend and allotted time frames
Prepare management reports
Monitor and control expenditure within budget limits
Attend and respond to customer queries
Collate information and conduct investigations
Ensure compliance to the Inventory and Stores Management business processes.
Continuous liaison with customers to improve service and minimize complaints
