Duration
Five (5) year fixed contract, renewable for one additional term based on performance
Summary of duties
Provide leadership to the department in respect of Teaching & Learning and Research & Engagement
Engage with student queries and complaints regarding the Department/Programme
Represent the department in relevant fora
Manage and supervise staff including
The allocation of workload
Approval of leave
Enhancing staff relations and building the team towards a student-centred department
Attending to matters such as study leave, grievances, disputes, training & development
Appointment of part time and replacement staff
Programme and project budgeting
Enhancing Faculty projects e.g. Postgraduate recruitment and supervision, student support programmes, orientation, graduation rate etc. in line with institutional targets and mandates
The successful candidate will receive a Non-pensionable Allowance inclusive of cell phone allowance of R10,000 per month for the headship in addition to the salary offered at the level of Senior Lecturer, Associate Professor or Professor that the successful candidate will be appointed against, whichever is applicable.
