    IT Project Manager - Durban

     MINIMUM REQUIRMENTS

    • Bachelor’s degree (NQF Level 7) qualification in IT/ ICT/Engineering
    • Five (5) years’ experience in an IT Project Management environment, at least three (3) years’ experience as must be from an IT Project Manager role
    • Higher qualification would be an advantage.
    • Certification as an IT Project Manager would be an advantage.

     SUMMARY OF DUTIES

    • Receive and analyse a request to plan a project to determine the nature and needs of the project
    • Scope the project in terms of: initiation; scope planning; scope definition; scope verification.
    • Define the project quality control mechanisms to ensure adequate quality control application across project time span
    • Conduct quality assurance in accordance with set schedules to ensure that the project deliverables adhere to set standards
    • Identify the deliverables in accordance with a formulated project plan to determine the resource requirements in terms of availability and competence
    • Select staff and allocate to the identified areas of responsibility

    Director: Research and Postgraduate Support

    DIRECTOR: RESEARCH AND POSTGRADUATE SUPPORT (Post. No. 30001199)

    • The Director: Research and Postgraduate Support reports to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor: Research, Innovation, and Engagement and gives efficient support to ensure the university meets its Research and Postgraduate support strategic goals.
    • The successful candidate should have a track record of successfully overseeing and supporting a University or similar Research/Innovation organization in ensuring its research mandate is fulfilled by creating a conducive environment with efficient and effective research and postgraduate administrative and capacity-building initiative and systems as well as overseeing the design, development and implementation of a comprehensive set of Research and Postgraduate related policies, plans, procedures and systems designed to promote research culture and develop the research capacity within the Institution in alignment with the objectives, mission and vision of the Institution.
    • The Director is expected to provide strategic leadership in supporting research and postgraduate initiatives for executives, faculty, academics, and students. The candidate should have confidence and business presence to interface with the Council, Senate, Department of Higher Education, Science and Technology, Council for Higher Education and other similar Higher Education bodies and Research and Innovation Funding Organisations. The possession of an NRF Rating will be an advantage.
    • The successful incumbent should have at least a Ph.D. or equivalent qualification with at least 10 years’ experience in the Higher Education arena, of which 5 years must have been in research management or teaching and learning and 2 years in a Leadership position.
    • A proven research and innovation track record, exposure to the international platform and working with diverse groups is essential. In addition, an astute knowledge of the Higher Education landscape in terms of acts, rules, policies and procedures, SAQA, HEQF, NRF and other funders will be an added advantage.     Head Of Department - Visual Communication Design

    Minimum requirements

    • A PhD in the relevant discipline. Relevance in this context will depend on the cluster of academic programmes located in the department, namely Graphic Design, Photography and Interior Design
    • Professor, Associate Professor or Senior Lecturer
    • Five (5) years’ experience in higher education or academic leadership
    • A record of scholarship

    Duration

    • Five (5) year fixed contract, renewable for one additional term based on performance

    Summary of duties

    • Provide leadership to the department in respect of Teaching & Learning and Research & Engagement
    • Engage with student queries and complaints regarding the Department/Programme
    • Represent the department in relevant fora
    • Manage and supervise staff including
    • The allocation of workload
    • Approval of leave
    • Enhancing staff relations and building the team towards a student-centred department
    • Attending to matters such as study leave, grievances, disputes, training & development
    • Appointment of part time and replacement staff
    • Programme and project budgeting
    • Enhancing Faculty projects e.g. Postgraduate recruitment and supervision, student support programmes, orientation, graduation rate etc. in line with institutional targets and mandates
    • The successful candidate will receive a Non-pensionable Allowance inclusive of cell phone allowance of R10,000 per month for the headship in addition to the salary offered at the level of Senior Lecturer, Associate Professor or Professor that the successful candidate will be appointed against, whichever is applicable.
