    Head of Faculty Administration

    The Faculty of Science prides itself in its vibrant, dynamic and diverse scientific community of scholars who are passionate about enhancing the learning experience of students, enhancing the research profile of the Faculty and enhancing the academic, social and economic impact of the Faculty’s teaching and research programmes

    Responsibilities

    • Managing academic administration activities related to the full life cycle of under and postgraduate students.
    • Ensuring efficiency and effectiveness of Faculty Academic Administration.
    • Ensuring appropriate HR management of Academic administration staff within the Faculty office.
    • Ensuring legal compliance of Faculty Academic Administration activities.
    • Act as custodian of the academic architecture, rules, regulations, policies and procedures of the Faculty.
    • Act as liaison between various departments and the Faculty Administration staff.
    • Oversee extensive administrative tasks and the coding and capturing of transactions on the ITS system.
    • Oversee matters related to research, data capturing and record keeping in the faculty.
    • Serve as Secretarial support for Faculty Board and related Committees
    • Communicate with relevant stakeholders on behalf of the Faculty Office.
    • Assist in any adhoc requests from the Executive Dean.

    Minimum Requirements...

    • Postgraduate qualification (NQF 8) with 3 years’ relevant experience or relevant undergraduate qualification (NQF 7) with 8 years relevant experience..
    • Extensive experience in a Higher Education Institution including the management of student data and HEMIS reporting.
    • At least 7 years’ extensive ITS experience in all life-cycles pertaining to academic administration.
    • Proven computer skills in MS Office and Windows.
    • Proven management experience and expertise in a multi campus environment.
    • Knowledge and understanding of the relevant statutory body requirements (DHET, SAQA, CHE).
    • Proficiency in English.

    Recommendations

    • Relevant post graduate qualification.
    • Ability to interpret and execute UJ Faculty rules and regulations.
    • Ability to interpret and execute Higher Education imperatives.
    • Knowledge of UJ academic regulations. Knowledge of UJ policies and processes.
    • Thorough knowledge of business and people management processes
