    Head Of Marketing - Midrand

    Job Description

    The purpose of this role is to work with Vendors, internal sales, marketing, and product teams to ensure the commercial agenda of the broader business is aligned, particularly with respect to third-party partner relationships.

    The Product Marketing agenda must support the corporate marketing agenda in full and not be treated in isolation from any other marketing initiatives.

    Primary Objectives:

    Product Marketing

    • Maintain close communication and interaction with the Marketing Managers/Executives from all major distributors, ensure that initiatives implemented by them are in accordance with the overarching positioning of the Rectron Brand and product retention marketing objectives
    • Build and maintain trusting relationships with all the distributors, in so doing co-develop effective marketing plans
    • Meet with decision-makers from vendors on a monthly basis
    • Explore benefits of and present ideas for longer-term strategic relationships
    • Develop product-specific campaigns for all products measured in GP and Revenue Performance.

    Brand Management and Public Relations.

    Where appropriate, commission research to assist in determining such things as:

    • Segmentation and Regional strategies
    • The profile of our current and potential customer base
    • Incomes, lifestyles, etc.
    • Perception of Rectron
    • Expectations and needs
    • Customer expectations
    • Competitor analysis

    Drive differentiation strategy and market positioning.

    • How to encourage people resellers to make Rectron, the distributor of choice
    • Exceptional service differentiators
    • Analyse information presented from research, draw appropriate conclusions, and communicate this information to appropriate parties.
    • Develop, plan, and manage a full brand plan.
    • Identify and maintain close communication with key players within the different media (TV, Radio, Print, Interactive/digital)
    • React quickly to news through internal and external press releases across different platforms and within the industry.
    • Develop and execute Brand and Corporate Public Relations strategies for both internal and external customers and usage.
    • Drive PR exposure on all relevant marketing and CSI activities.

    General Marketing Management.

    • Unpack the Marketing Strategy by breaking it down into detailed action plans and assigning and agreeing on specific responsibilities within the team
    • Conduct post-mortem studies on major marketing/ promotional/advertising campaigns to identify successes, failures, and areas for improvement.
    • Motivate an appropriate budget allocation to implement a strategic marketing plan
    • Determine efficiency or success of media use in terms of post-mortem analyses of specific campaigns · Negotiate package deals and discounted rates with partners based on the above analysis
    • Manage the total spend per each product type against budget
    • Ensure that we use the best possible agencies appropriate for our business
    • Negotiate the best agreements with our agencies, vendors for product marketing and PR
    • Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives for the business
    • Ensure all marketing expenditure is adequately benchmarked in the industry.

    Talent Management.

    • Identify skills and competencies required to deliver (both current and future) departmental strategies
    • Monitor head counts and adjusts structures where necessary to ensure optimal delivery levels and operational productivity
    • Develop internal talent in the team to meet succession and talent plan requirements
    • Conduct the orientation of any new team member
    • Plan the training programme for team members, identify a suitable coach, monitor and assess the progress of the employee against the training plan and ensure sufficient coaching takes place
    • Ensure that the team member is declared competent within the specified timeframe
    • Ensure multi-skilling of all team members to ensure growth and development
    • Manage performance of employees
    • Conduct daily one-on-one discussions to address areas for improvement and recognize good performance
    • Conduct monthly performance tracking and formulate an improvement plan for the next month
    • Conduct performance reviews on a bi-annual and annual basis.
