    Head of Salesforce Development

    Job Summary: 

    As a Salesforce Systems Integrator and Consulting Summit partner, we help large enterprise clients with their digital transformation on the Salesforce platform. We are looking for a dynamic and experienced Head of Salesforce Development to lead our team of Salesforce developers in designing, implementing, and maintaining the highest quality software solutions on the Salesforce platform. 

    The Head of Development takes responsibility for operational management of a small team of technical specialists. This position supervises ensures the implementation, installation, and introduction of new and/or existing programs, software, hardware, solutions and/or technical systems for new and/or existing client organisations. This role is also responsible for clarifying the company’s goals and actively develops strategy that involves identifying team delivery tasks.

    The ideal candidate should have a proven track record of success in software development, team management, and strong technical expertise. You will be responsible for overseeing the development process, managing resources, and ensuring quality and efficiency throughout the entire software development lifecycle.

    Responsibilities: 

    • Lead and manage a team of developers in the design, development, testing, and deployment of custom Salesforce solutions.
    • Supervise and coordinate a team to define the way they implement and introduce new and/or existing programs, software, hardware, solutions and/or technical systems for new and/or existing clients
    • Ensure that programs, software, hardware, solutions and/or technical systems implementation standards, procedures and policies as defined by the leadership are implemented and adhered to
    • Coordinate and supervise initial scope assessments, define work plans and roadmaps, and oversee groups executing implementation plans
    • Collaborate with project managers, solution architects, and other team members to define project scope, requirements, and deliverables
    • Provide technical guidance and support to team members and clients as needed
    • Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and developments in Salesforce platform development and apply them to projects as appropriate
    • Develop and maintain positive relationships with clients, acting as primary point of contact on development-related issues
    • Keep up-to-date with the latest Salesforce technologies and trends, recommending appropriate solutions where appropriate
    • Contribute to the development of the tactical strategy as well as develop and implement a supporting operational strategy
    • Recommend best practices for Salesforce development, including coding standards, testing and release management
    • Ensure all development work is completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards
    • Monitor and evaluate the performance of development team members
    • Mentor and coach team members to ensure continuous improvement and maintain technical expertise
    • Ensure timely project delivery within budgetary and timetable constraints
    • Define and enforce coding standards, development methodologies and best practices
    • Conduct code reviews and implement best practices to ensure high-quality code is delivered
    • Assumes advisory role to help the project manager achieve deadlines and goals
    • Identify and implement process improvement opportunities to optimize development processes

    Requirements: 

    • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field
    • 10 years+ experience in software development, with 5 years+ in a leadership capacity
    • Salesforce Platform Developer I (and II) certifications
    • Experience with various development methodologies, including Agile/Scrum
    • A deep understanding of the Salesforce/Customer 360 platform, including Lightning, Apex, and APIs
    • Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
    • Proven experience implementing Salesforce solutions for large-scale, complex organizations
    • Strong project management skills and experience working with agile methodologies
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills

    Qualifications:

    • NQF 7 equivalent
    • Bachelor’s degree Business Administration, Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or relevant
