Health & Safety Intern (Balmoral) at Afrimat

Minimum Qualification / Requirements:

• National Diploma in Safety Management or related.
• SAMTRAC will be advantageous.
• COMSOC 1 & 2 will be advantageous
• Computer Literacy (MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint & Outlook).
• Valid driver’s license
• Knowledge of the Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA) and related mining regulations
• Good administrative abilities
• Exercise due diligence with strong attention to detail
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills are necessary (verbal & written).
• Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines
• Must be able to build and maintain relationships
• Must align with company values of trust, accountability, integrity, teamwork, respect, and safety.
• Ability to take initiative and carry out duties independently
• Must be medically fit for work.

Duties and responsibilities (not limited to):

• Participate in / conduct Health & Safety inspections and compile reports
• Maintain and manage operational Health and Safety filing system, ensuring they are complete, up-to-date, and compliant with regulatory requirements.
• Participate in the internal and external Health & Safety audits.
• Attend Health & Safety related meetings to ensure proper communication and alignment with Health & Safety objectives.
• Actively participate in the development and rollout of Health & Safety initiatives and campaigns to promote a culture of safety.
• Participate in AFRIMAT’s Internship Development Programme.
• Compile site and Health & Safety files.
• Attend Health & Safety meetings and assist with taking minutes
• Participate in Incident/Accident investigations / assist in recording, reporting, and
• investigating incidents and accidents, ensuring corrective actions are implemented and monitored.
• Participate in HIRA process
