    Horticulturist / Agronomist

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

    • BSc Agric (Agronomy/Horticulture) or relevant four-year BSc degree in Agriculture/Soil Science (relevant three-year degree and a relevant Hons)
    • Less than 5 years’ experience
    • Full professional proficiency in Afrikaans and English (speaking and writing)
    • Must own a pickup truck (bakkie)

     SKILLS & CAPABILITIES REQUIRED

    • Working understanding of agronomy/horticulture crops, precision ag, soil science, and plant nutrition.
    • Ability to market and sell products and services.
    • Verbal and written communication skills.
    • Ability to work in a team environment as well as on your own.
    • Computer literate
    • Attention to detail and well organised.
    • Work well under pressure and deadline-driven.

    MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

     Advise clients on plant nutrition and soil sciences to optimise yield and quality, and to enable them to make better decisions by: 

    • Providing technical recommendations to customers based on various analyses (soil, leaf, etc.), Building and maintaining relationships with customers through regular on-site visits to secure repeat business,
    • Establishing and positioning yourself as a trusted partner,
    • Identifying and implementing business opportunities to grow and expand AT’s market share, Marketing and selling products and services,
    • Preparing and presenting technical presentations to clients,
    • Gaining extensive knowledge related to the use and application of the company’s products within a specific geographic location and crop types.
    • Actively partaking in research and development (R&D) initiatives (including field trials) to facilitate continuous product improvement,
    • Keeping up to date with industry trends, norms, and developments,
    • Compiling sales budgets in collaboration with Senior Agriculturists or Business Development Managers and meeting sales budget,
    • Assisting Senior Agriculturists or Business Development Managers with programmes/development of presentations/research etc. when necessary,
    • Compiling programmes for approval by a SACNASP registered Agriculturist,
    • Maintaining financial and personal administrative records.
    • Ad hoc or other related duties as assigned.
